Not sure if everyone has discovered this podcast, but figured I'd share.

http://www.newbrewthursday.com/

I particularly enjoy the pairing portions of the episode as I think he's the most knowledgeable. The KBS episode had pairings with a cigar and a 12 yr old Chimay. Didn't even know you could age a chimay that long, but I'd really like to try it.

Saison I think could be pretty doable but without actually researching it I'd think that the subtle complexity that is tripels and quads could make for a finicky brew. But that's just me talking out of my ass.

I actually dry hopped a brew today which is a really hoppy dark ale that I used a really weird grain bill with. Very interested to see how it turns out.
Hoppy dark ale sounds solid, I'm debating on belgian trip/quad or a strong ale double bastard clone.

Yeah I think it'll be interesting. This is the first one that is 100% original so we'll see. The others have either been kits (first few) or other people's recipes/based of others.

Strong ale would be neat.

HAHAHAHAHAHA Your avatar HAHAHAHAHA I didn't realize it was your posting.

Anyways - went to a place in my area called World of Beer. I had a Clown Shoes Brown Angel draft, then a bottle of Green Flash Double Stout and a bottle of Oaked Arrogant Bastard. Awesome place, can't wait to go back.

This was my favorite of the night and if i ever see it in a store I'm going to hoard it. Has a coffee chocolate taste, with a good amount of hops but not over powering. I love brown ales and this was one of the best i've ever had. It leaves kind of a caramel after taste in your mouth too.

Going to go with another 12'er of good beer this weekend. Going to hit up a different gas station to see if the selection is better. Might go for some Miller High Life.

Only place in my small town. One right down the street has a decent selection, just no micro-brews. I may hit up a grocery, if I end up being close to one.

I tend to like it. I believe they might smoke their pumpkin prior to brewing it. I didn't notice it when I first tried it until Thursday night. I had a SA Oktoberfest then switched over to the Harvest. The smoke was really present that night. I started with the Harvest last night and didn't taste it as much.

Someone else might want to try a different beer then a Harvest next to make sure I'm not losing my mind...again.

I had a few Coors Light, a Keystone Light, and was stuffed up a full. Will try today as my FIRST beer. I almost didn't drink it last night bc I thought to myself, this'll just be a waste. I think it was.

Had an Anger Black IPA from Greenbush last night. It surprised, not your typical black IPA. Would definitely recommend.

Had no beer last night. On Thursday though had Aventinus. A dunkelweizen. Was delicious. Also had my first homebrew on Thursday. Brewed an RIS with friend and it was pretty bad. It was flat and syrupy. I don't think we used enough yeast and didn't let it sit in the carboy long enough.

That sucks, man. It would take me a while before trying a stout or anything fancy like that.

Yeah, while some beers get better with age, I've never heard of an IPA being one of them.

Where do you get them from? You must have a source since they are only in Phily or NorCal correct?

On a separate note, a buddy of mine just brought over a couple Brooklyn Monster Ales he's been aging for about a year.

Tasted COMPLETELY different from one you drink just after buying it ... and for the better!
