Finally found some Palate Wrecker. Need to put it in the fridge for a few long days before trying it.

Got some Front Porch Rocker from Sam Adams. It was pretty decent don't know why the lemon flavoring as lemon and beer for me dont harmonize well. I wouldnt drink it again.
Wright Pils is good stuff.

Lemon has to be done right in a beer. Balanced with the spices and such. Most breweries are pretty shitty at doing that.

No posts from me last night since I wasn't drinking. I had an early morning follow up doctors appointment for some tests I had a few months ago. Good news is my liver is still looking good and not a lump of coal, in spite what I throw at it.

Just had a Hoppus Maxumus to wake up the flavor buds. Now onto the Jolly Pumpkins. Currently having the Luciernaga. Loving this. Nice spices on the palate with that sour, bitterish finish. I keeps taking sips while typing this post.

I'm looking forward to having a couple more bottles of JP's tonight and giving sonofanump a few drunken posts to read...we'll see.

Just had the Maracaibo Especial from JP.Even better than the Luciernaga. More body on this one. Loving it.

I'll be switching off to some Hops since I could honestly drink my remaining JP's till it's time to wake in the morning/afternoon. Time for some beers that will put me nite nite. Got some Palate Wreckers and LE Monsters. Palate Wrecker is up first.

Came across some JP the other day but I didn't buy it. Sounds like I'm blowing it.

I love the Palate Wecker, but I find the price varies pretty greatly. I can get a bomber for $10 at whole foods, or a 4 pack anywhere from $10 to $15 around me. Next time I see it in the $10 range I'll pick some up.

Will have to give it a try. Have you had any gushers yet? JP beers are know to start overflowing once you open it. I alway open mine over the sink because about half of them I get start gushing out once I crack it open.

Not yet. I have noticed that there is quite a head when poured into my Sam Adams Glasses, especially if there are remnants from another beer.

I wouldn't say you are blowing it. It's just a different experience having sour beers. Brings out a whole new appreciation for a different beer style and the twist they put on that style. Very different.

Had the JP Fuego del Otono tonight. Good but not as good as the Brown Ale I had from them last night, the Maracaibo. I'm having the Madrugada Obscura right now. A freaking sour Stout!!! Mind=Blown.:o

The only thing I hate about JP is their names...having to have the empty bottles around me to type the names of their beers...lol But it's worth it as I will keep buying their beers. Especially for the Summer.

Tried Southern Tier Barley Wine last night - that is good f'n beer! First time I had a barley wine, is it actually a beer? Anyways, 10% alcohol and drinking a bomber got me drunk. I love southern tier and recommend any of their brews to anyone.

That is a good f'in (lol) beer.

I finally tried a St. bernardus last night. I tried the tripel (cheapest they had lol) and it was great. Did not disappoint.

I guess I'll have to try the Brown Ale because I remember loving Fuego del Otono, thought it would be an awesome fall beer. And Madrugada Obscura blew my mind for sure. I waited so long to buy it, I thought there was no way in hell it could taste good. First couple sips were a little awkward but ended up loving it. The two contrasting flavors somehow worked great together, thats why I love JP.

Have any of you ever aged any of the St. Bernardus brews? I want to try the three I have but also think it would be cool to age them as well. If I could easily obtain them I'd just drink them this weekend!

Yes, they're delicious. I've had Pater 6, Prior 8, and ABT 12. Great stuff.

Edit: I didn't read this correctly the first time and didn't see that you asked about aging. No, I haven't aged them.

Which ones do you have? I would image they would hold up well over time, belgians are pretty good at that. If you have more than one of the same just drink one now and save the others.

I have St. Bernardus ABT 12, Tripel, and Prior 8. They all can be aged up to 5 years and one of them maybe ABT 12 was like 15yrs. I want to drill them bastards now but also think it would be cool to age them for awhile.

Just curious what makes them hard to get for you? My suggestion would be to try them now and buy more of the ones you like and see how aging compares to a fresh beer. While some beers will age well, they can taste just as good if not better fresh and it would be good to have a starting point when drinking an aged beer.

Palate Wrecker tonight...again after some unsuccessful mixed drinks that The Wife thought would work. Didn't work for me besides the buzz, but she enjoyed them. Well I'm into my second PW and maybe onto an LE Monster awaiting in the fridge here in a few. Actually it's on with the LE Monster as I've finished the PW as I'm typing...and you are welcome Sonofanump for another drunken post from me.

Guess I figured that since it isn't very rare of a beer. I would still try them out now even if it's not all at once, and maybe next time you are in an area that has it pick some up. There might not be any near you, but you should see it again if you/friend/family member ever come across a decent beer store. They might taste great with some time on them, but you wouldn't really know how it's changed and what you're comparing it to.
