I enjoyed it, I'm a big fan of Dogfish Head and thought it was good. Liked the mix of the IPA w/ the fruit beer. I usually don't like many fruit beers, but this was a good combination.

It's unreal, like the 90 Minute on Roids. You may not see it since every state has their own rules on the highest percentage of beer they are allowed to sell. In Ohio it's 12% beer and below. I have to go to Kentucky to get the 120 Minute IPA as they are allowed to sell the beers higher than 12%. I believe the 120 Minute is around 18% ABV.

Stone Ruination IPA tonight.

Just picked some up for today along with Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. I'm thinking of having something out of my collection but not sure what, so maybe my fellow OC beer geeks will help me choose.

Yeah, it annoys me that we're capped here in Ohio. Don't get me wrong, I like a good Weyerbacher TINY (11.8%), but in the summer, when I want something more fresh and hoppy ... damnit, I want my Dogfish Head 120-Minute!!!

I'm going to have to make a trip sometime this summer ...

Just had a Lucky U IPA from Breckenridge Brewery, and enjoying an Acme IPA from North Coast now. Really enjoy the Acme IPA, I wasn't crazy about the Lucky U.

I've actually heard a lot of people let down by Breckenridge.

Your not the only one. One of the beer guys, where I shop, talked me out of buying their Vanilla Porter. I haven't tried anything from them since.

Boris, hang on to the Alesmith as it will only get better with age...or you can drink it now since there aren't to many chilly nights left. I'd go with one of the Jolly Pumkins. A sour beer sounds good now, and I don't have any. Damn

lol, sorry. If it makes you feel better I took your suggestion and cracked open my Jolly Pumpkin Fuego Del Otono Autumn Fire and I love it. A very interesting beer, has the normal JP sourness smell and taste you get from their other beers, but tons of spices and a nutty flavor as well. This would be an awesome beer to drink in the fall.

Yeah, I noticed an empty bottle of that at a friend's house recently. This is the guy that got me into the good beers. I asked him what he thought. His reply?

"I wish I'd had a Bud Light instead ... yeah, I know how that sounds."

Tried several new beers tonight, by far my favorite was Flying Dog Tire Bite Golden Ale. Would look to pick it up next time I see it. I then read this was Flying Dog's poorest beer. I must really have an odd sense of beer taste.

Breckenridge dark oatmeal stout - Don't like chewy syrup.
Dundee Irish Red -OK
McGuire's Irish Red - Disappointing
New Holland Cabin Fever Brown Ale - Liked it.
Boulder Never Summer Ale - Alright
Southern Tier Winter Ale Old Man - Nah, but I don't like Guinness.
Blue Heron Pale Ale - Not a fan at all

Tonight, I'm drinking Miller Genuine Draft.

Drinking a nice Black and Tan right now; Stone Ruination + Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout! Actually one of the better combos that I've made.

Ooooh ... I've never had anything from Brooklyn except their Monster Ale, which was DELICIOUS! Had one that was also aged a year, and WOW did it get better!

I'm gonna have to find the Black Chocolate Stout!

BBCS is very good, but I think it's a winter seasonal (comes in 4 pack). I would keep your eyes out for it though, great beer. I've been happy with every beer I tried from Brooklyn and they're not very expensive either.

favorite beer at the moment has become Rogue Dead Man's Ale

I attended a beer tasting that was hosted by Garrett Oliver, Brewmaster at Brooklyn. He said the the Black Chocolate Stout was his try out beer to become Brewmaster at Brooklyn...basically his "Resume".

A couple of other interesting facts about the Black Chocolate Stout...It has NO chocolate added to it. It gets it's flavor via the combination of the roasted malts. For years it had the incorrect ABV on the label. I believe it had 8.4 or 8.6 percent on the label. This was due to using the incorrect Hydrometer and it couldn't give the proper percentage because the alcohol was too high for it to read. It was later tested to be 10.6% using the proper Hydrometer.

At this same tasting they had Brooklyn Blast, on tap. (their double IPA) Garrett was surprised that there was any Blast left at all anywhere, as most places had sold out of it earlier. I guess the Distributor still had one left, but it was empty by the end of the night as after the tasting every one went had and had more.

I'm taking it easy tonight. Just cracked open a Sam Adams Double Bock. Not too bad of a beer.

I think I may have fell in love with hops because of Ruination. I haven't particularly been a hop head but Ruination was incredible. Actually come to think of it the last several IPAs I've had ( all quite hoppy) I've loved. So maybe I've just finally developed big boy taste or something.

Had a porter my friend brewed last night which was actually pretty good especially for a first try.

Truth be known...ANYONES D-Bock > Sam Adams D-Bock. I just had it in the fridge. A friend of mine thought he was setting me up with 4 bottles of Sam Adams Chocolate Bock, which is highly overrated in my opinion. Instead it was 2 C-Bocks and 2 D-Bocks. So I had the two D-Bocks, a Guinness, then found a Brooklyn Winter Ale...that saved the 'evening'. Now I have to venture back in the Fridge and see what else is there I didn't know about...or break into my stash. I have to say Pants, I'm not a huge fan of anything from GL, maybe except for their Glockenspiel. I did like that.

They're not super amazing beers but they're a pretty damned good option that's sold in 12 packs at the grocery store.
