Don't be ashamed. That's aggressive, and I always liked a guy who was willing to put his prediction out there for the world to see.

Winning and looking bad is still better than losing and looking good.

Nothing wrong with an ugly win. Ask any of the teams that have had "dynasty-type" eras in the past. They'll tell you that some of their wins were UGLY. From my own Alma Mater, the 2000 Rd. 2 playoff game against Ashland Crestview comes readily to mind, as does the 2001 Dalton game, and the 2002 Delphos St. Johns game.
Ugly wins get you just as many Harbin points as pretty ones. The ugly ones are better, though, because they show you more of what you need to improve.

A Mapleton team who, before tonight, had been outscored 96-7 by its first two opponents (lost 55-0 and 41-7 in weeks 1 and 2).
I hate to see any WCAL school do this poorly. I think I will definitely skip the Smithville-Rittman game this year.

Smithville's 9-1 (or better) regular season streak:
1998: 9-1
1999: 9-1
2000: 9-1
2001: 9-1
2002:
10-0
2003: 9-1
2004: 9-1
2005: 9-1
2006: 9-1
They flirted with it for a flipping decade. As of 2006, they had never had a regular season record under 7-3 since 1992, when they went 4-6. They hit 10-0 for the regular season the same year they went to the State Championship, in the fall of 2002.

They're back to doing what made them so good for so long: kick-ass, smashmouth WCAL football with tough, workhorse offensive linemen and runners who are willing to punish tacklers.
They had some decent passing teams for a few years, but the bread-n-butter of the creme de la creme Smithville teams was almost ALWAYS that 3-back stable of hard runners running that archaic Wing-T.
Coach Keith's favorite play out of that is my namesake.

Ah, good call! I remember that! Week 9, it was a showdown of the 9-0 teams left in the WCAL.

I haven't seen a Rittman game, but seeing that they were decent last year, would it be accurate to say that he came in and tried to fix something that wasn't broken?
thedemoralizer7;890113 wrote:last night will be the last rittman game i go to all year.. it absolutely kills me and all the other rittman fans at the game to watch this especially after rittman had a pretty decent year last year and thought we turned the corner for good. For one guy to come in and bring down the program so fast is outragious! The kids on the team have worked hard in the offseason and they dont deserve this! i actually had the chance to talk to some rittman fans last night and they said they would love to have teague back! also that they dont think they can come to 7 more games and watch it anymore! i also overheard a few parents have already went to the schoolboard about the coach and they are only 3 games into the season!!
I do have to say that I hate when parents try to get involved like that, and in this case, they shouldn't even need to. The Rittman football program reminds me of the New London program of the early 2000s: on life support.

Mr Miyagi is an odd dude for always talking about himself in the third person.
