Very poorly coached, I even had 60+ year old ladies sitting next to me and behind me last night wondering what the heck was going on......:huh:

I might agree with this. I think Norwayne has the talent to beat Wooster, but with as much scrutiny and criticism as McCreary gets, I think the coaching and play-calling in Wooster is still not as bad as it has been the times I've watched or followed Norwayne this year. I don't want to say Norwayne's coaches need ousted, but they DO need to get a LOT better with the offensive play-calling.

Another point. I honestly wonder what goes on in Norwayne's lockerroom at halftime, because both times I've experienced them, there has been very little shoring up of weakness in the second half.

Miyagi thought that Hillsdales Defensive alignment was interesting friday night on the 3 wr side of the field....anyone else notice that ? And why couldn't the Bobcats take advantage of that?

We have asked the same thing for the last 10 weeks!!!!!!!........if you look at halftime all the Norwayne coaches are standing out side of the locker room...they stay out there for most of the halftime......then they go in and give their little "pep" talk and head back out...

From what i hear from most of the Bobcats...Norwayne's best O Cord. is up in the box telling them what to run...but they dont listen...He is a heck of a JV Cord......

what coaches from Norwayne are you refering to. Northwest would love to have harbor,sette,and jude back..you hadnt won squat till they arrived now you can gripe about them. you are really hard to please your 9-1 and in the playoffs co-champs in wcal. whens the last ime you can say all that

I'm not from Norwayne. I'm on the outside looking in at their offensive play-calling, but I've seen it first-hand a couple times now. If that's not done by Harbour, then fine, but he should still get that under control. It's easily the most suspect part of their offense.

This team is winning because they are chock full of talented and hard-working players. That's why most teams do well, and that's DEFINITELY why they were able to beat a team who beat a team who beat them. I gotta say, I hope they do exceedingly well in the playoffs.

Brutus: not true, Norwayne had quite a few winning seasons and a league championship with coach Maltrich (now at W. Holmes).
I think Haurbour is an excellent coach and is moving the Bobcats program in the right direction! It is human nature to second guess things. Trust me, there were rumblings in Smithville, after several sub-par seasons! Coaches have the weight of the communities on there shoulders and it is one job I would never want!!lol I think the Smithies match up quite well with the Royals of Wynford.

I did a little digging,
Wynford Royals 10-0. Offense scoring 34.7 points a game. Defense giving up 8.2 points a game.
The Royals beat 4 teams with a winning record, two teams on ther schedual also qualified for the playoffs.

Smithville Smithies 8-2. Offense scoring 38.9 points a game. Defense giving up 17.5 points a game.
The Smithies beat 3 teams with a winning record, two teams on there schedual also qualified for the playoffs.

My understanding is that this Norwayne team and a couple to follow have been winning since they were little tikes. Many of the Cat fans I know have been talking about them since they were in elementary school. These kids have done nothing but win since they were little. Even when they were winning big most of the people with football knowledge were telling me that they would be outcoached against some of the good teams. They are pleased with the fact that Maltarichs "pound it out" system is gone. They love the new scheme but the coaches lock up in tough situations. From what I hear there is no attention to detail and obviously the discipline is lacking. "Kids coaching kids" is what I hear often. The true test will be in a couple years when the horses are gone. I see Norwayne heading for a huge fall in 2 years.


I think we are all fools if we think that a team CANT win without good coaching. I think Norwayne is doing just that right now.

Maltarich is in the perfect place to run his offense....big Holmes county farm boys digging in the trenches....I will question Harbour has the talent to win in this current system, but after these athletes graduate, will they still have the talent for a spread offense? I think we will really see what kind of coach harbour is in 2 years.

After running the chains during the Chippewa - smithville game I was very impressed with the discipline and obvious respect between the players and coaches on the smithvills sideline. Never heard anything bad and never had to tell a kid to move, etc. Not saying anything bad about the fine young men on the smithville team but I didn't see any superstars just a team that played well together and with good leadership. I would take a team like that any day.

It's the team culture that Coach Schrock and the coaching staff instill in the kids. I was kind of talking about this earlier, but it's very nice to hear that others take notice of it.

They have some good players, but each one does the job he's been given to do, and he knows that if he doesn't show the discipline and respect demanded by the staff, he'll be making it up later.

Has to be one of my favorite parts about the program. Thanks for taking the time to mention it here. Reps.

Having had a kid in the Smithie program I was always impressed with the level of discipline and respect respected of the players toward coaches, parents and opponents. Even after the loss at the state championship, Marion Pleasant folks commented on how courteous and disciplined the team was. That is a big reason for the success and work ethic of the Schrock program. I hope whoever replaces him one day recognizes the value of a disciplined program.

Just a little history lesson for Brutus. Norwayne won 8 games in 2008, 7 in 2007 and 8 in 2006. That's 23 wins in the 3 years leading up to Harbours tenure. There probably aren't many local teams that had a much better record during that 3 year run. They won 5 games in 2009. The first year under coach Harbour. Many believe coaching cost them at least 2 games that year. They went 9 - 3 last year and are currently 9 - 1. Hr has had basically the same team all 3 years he's been there. As far as most local people are concerned you can have Lachance and Harbour. We'll keep Sette. He's the best out of all of them. They ought to start listening to him.

After seeing Bobcat's last post I'm going to have to take back what I said here.......so counting last season Norwayne is 18-4?, thats a pretty darn good record with one of those losses against Youngstown Ursline. I did see some things friday against Hillsdale that were a bit suspect but its hard to argue against that record.

Sure that is a great record for any coach to have....but look at the games when he is up against a very very good opponent. The weaknesses are really exposed in the coaching.


Like I said before, we will really see how good he is in 2 years when the talent graduates.
