Remember this team was 2-8 last year, just needed to learn how to win. Will root for Norwayne this week, WCL Tri-Champs sounds just fine to me. Hopefully the Smithies and Falcons somehow both make it to playoffs and try it again, maybe we would have some real officiating and see which team wins!

Oh brother.......

.....and we have the Smithville version of Paul.

Tuslaw and Hillsdale both cheated, it's the refs fault, now we'd win by 40........someone contact the OHSAA and change the books!!!!!

Maybe you should make a video, Green Hammer.

wow, hangin' 60 on Tuslaw. Yet only 55 on Rittman, or are you changing that score too?

GreenHammer50;942016 wrote: Hopefully the Smithies and Falcons somehow both make it to playoffs and try it again, maybe we would have some real officiating and see which team wins!
Here we go again-

Refs don't win or lose games. Execution or lack of it, determines outcomes. If you feel the officials are poor, win in spite of them. Don't make excuses, if you executed properly perceived or real bad calls wouldn't matter.

and remember Green Hammer,
anytime you make a case against someone else, one can be made against you in return,

example: The Mogadore game, Moggys final drive had multiple questionable penalties that could easily be construed as poor officiating.

Don't fall into the "When the calls are against us.... it's bad officiating, but when it goes against the opponent.... it's fair" trap.

Officials are human and make mistakes, you can't control that. You can control execution, thus you control your ability to shape the outcome.
If you feel it's the officials fault you lost, you're fooling yourself.

Oh Lord! not the Greenhammer! Think about what you post on here! I will go easy on you because it is your first post! First of all the games you refer to are done and gone!! Both of those teams beat Smithville fair and square! I am happy about the win against Norwayne but lets not get carried away! just enjoy the victory and hope that Smithville will get to compete in week 11.

Oh my, take the advice given greenhammer.....you should.be focused on the chipps and WEEK 10! Those games are done and the results were already settled. The Smithie team showed they have gotten better each week now use that momentum for Friday night. You got the last word when you beat Norwayne...leave it at that. Stay classy green!

This kid will never hear the end of it.

I was in the same position my freshmen year at Smithville and still hear about it. The only difference was I posted on JJ Huddle and it was for a playoff game that we ended up losing.

The coaches found out the day it happened and I learned my lesson that day. I got punished all week but it only took one day for me to decide to never do that again and do what the coaches asked of me.

They started calling me JJ after that and they didn't stop until 4 years after graduation.

O-Trap;941932 wrote:I thought you were a numbers guy! Didn't you just say ...?

The NUMBERS tell us that the league had a MUCH tougher non-conference schedule this year than they did in 2002 (class of 2003). Heck, the non-conference opponents have more wins through 8 weeks this year than they did through all 10 weeks in 2002.

Now, I'm not saying there isn't a chasm between the top and bottom of the league unlike we've seen in QUITE some time. What I AM saying is that the talent, top to bottom, may not be that different. We may not have a team that could go to the State Championship, but we have three teams I still say could win at least 1 game in the playoffs.

I'm not suggesting that this is the MOST talented year the WCAL has ever had, but I don't think it's a "down" year, either. If you use records, then you have to use non-conference strength of schedule, as those are the games that bring points INTO the conference. Play a tougher schedule weeks 1 - 3? You're going to have a worse record, even if the talent is identical.

Consensus never meant as much to me as numbers, and the numbers say that the WCAL played a B**** of a non-conference schedule this year!
you can play the toughest schedule in the state but it doesn't mean anything if you don't win. the statistics have to be valid for the question. say chippewa plays 3 10-0 teams.... lose all three...what does that mean exactly? are they tougher than a smithville team that wins 2 games over 4-6 teams and loses against a 2-8 team?

look at it this way too. norwayne beat western reserve. playoff team and undefeated last year. this year.... not so hot. not quite the win they thought it was going to be.

I think you have to look at the overall records of the opponets beat. then factor in playoff wins toget a more valid statistical look.

I just don't think there's enough out there to say it's a down year. Is an 0-3 Chippewa team against 3 10-0 teams better than a Smithie team that goes 3-0 against 3 teams that were 0-10? You can't say until they play each other, because there isn't enough info.

Now, since entire conferences from different years can't play each other, you're left with numbers. A conference with more wins doesn't mean it's better necessarily. Winning in an easier schedule is expected, even with identical talent.

My who point, I guess, is that nobody has enough info to say one way or the other.

Me and the Yuengling don't feel like scrolling back to find the post where someone mentioned that Chippewa is the worst football program in the state of Ohio, but I suggest you look at the program at Conotton Valley, you'll feel better about the Chipps.

I feel bad for those 2 teams when they make the playoffs, Hillsdale and Smithville both would have extremely long travels for their round 1 game. OHSAA=SMH

Smithville is really going to need Hillsdale, Liberty Union, and Wheelersburg to lose to make it to week 11. Going to be tough.

Correct me if Im wrong but I do believe if Smithville wins Friday and Hillsdale wins, Smithville is the odd man out, Also correct me if Im wrong in saying there will be more Smithville people at the Norwayne/Hillsdale game than their own game Friday. Im sure some Orrville people will be in attendance as well! Thats some great Week 10 drama!

Thankfully, Hillsdale plays an 8-1 team, Liberty Union plays a 9-0 team, and Wheelersburg plays an 8-1 team.

I see Wheelersburg losing.

Liberty Union is a toss-up.

I'm cheering for Norwayne!

I still think Norwayne should move that game to Wooster so their is more room for everyone in attendance....but doubt it will happen since they cancelled or moved all of the remaining games that were suppose to be played on it this week.

OTrap, I agree with you but I would flip flop Wheelersburg and Liberty Union. Either way, if Hillsdale loses and Smithville wins they still definitely need more help. I just have heard that Portsmouth West really is not that tough and also it stinks because Liberty Union is playing their best ball of the year right now.
