I'm platinum elite ambassador level at intercontinental hotels.
Also I have 50,000 continental miles.
What say you?

Continental/American members - have more miles than we could ever use, too difficult to redeem them with blackout policies. Does help getting upgraded to business class and use of the executive lounge.
Starwood members as well - much better as far as being able to redeem points.

I have miles between both Continental and Delta. Probably a total of 80k saved up between the two.
I also am a member of both Holiday Inns and Marriotts.
Over the last 6 years I have "elite" of some sort in Continental, Holiday Inn, and Marriotts at one point or another. The free upgrades to business class are nice when you are elite and there is a business class/1st class seat available.

Platinum with Marriott and have 400K+ points. Gold with Hilton, but only have enough points for about two free nights.
Last year I went to a different place just about every week and had to split my itineraries between DL and US/UA depending on the destination. It sucked because when I cancelled my last flight of the year on DL, it left me 130 miles/2 segments short of even Medallion status. So now I'm flying them every week starting from scratch.
UA would override my US number when I checked in and I didn't realize it until several weeks later. That delayed Silver status for me on US and eventually prevented me from hitting Gold. There is a process to switch those miles/segments over, but apparently they are in no hurry to do so.
I did do a hotel promotion through Marriott, however that got me 60K miles on DL, so I have enough points for about 3 roundtrip tickets at the moment.
