I want inception to win, because it quickly became one of my favorite movies, but i think best picture will go to social network.

I don't think the academy will go with either. I think the king's speech. Black Swan and True Grit are the leaders.

Best Picture - Kings Speech
Actor Leading Role - Colin Firth, Kings Speech
Actress Leading Role - Natalie Portman, Black Swan
Actor Supporting Role - Christian Bale, The Fighter
Actress Supporting Role - Amy Adams, The Fighter
That would be my guess. I think the only slam dunk, at least imo, is Christian Bale...he was fantastic.

I think it's lame that the Nominations are now up to 10 for BP. Toy Story 3? Really? Come on. Just like Avatar and Blind Side were up last year, total BS.
Also side note, this is a weak year for BP imo. True Grit was good, King's Speech was really good, but my vote would have gone to Blue Valentine.

Continuing predictions:
Supporting Actor - Bale (although Hawkes was excellent, Winter's Bone was horribly disappointing to me but he was awesome in it)
Supporting Actress - Carter
Animated film - Toy Story 3
Art Direction - Inception
Cinematography - Inception
Costume design - King's Speech
Director - Fincher (narrowly beating Aronofsky)
Feature Documentary - Exit through the gift shop
Film Editing - Social Network
Visual Effects - Inception
Adapted Screenplay - Social Network
Original Screenplay - The Fighter

Jennifer Lawrence is the second youngest ever to be nominated for Best Actress, at 20. She was in my roommate's graduation class in Louisville.

I enjoyed Toy Story 3, but can't believe it is a best picture nom. It is the type of story that appeals to nearly everyone, but isn't great by any means. PIXAR always puts out high quality animation films, but the only two films they made that I think deserved a best picture nom (assuming a 10 nomination BP group) were Nemo and Incredibles. Ratatouille and UP would be close.
And agreeing with CoA, Avatar getting a nomination last year was a total joke. Probably Cameron's worst film as far as the story is concerned (aside from the Piranha film).

2 things I cant believe....Christopher Nolan gets snubbed, yet again, for a best director nod. You're telling me that in the last 3 years the dude has directed The Dark Knight AND Inception and he doesn't even get a CHANCE to win best director? The Dark Knight was easily the best film of the year that year, and Inception was one of the 3 best films this year...Thought the King's speech and Winter's bone were terribly overrated, and True Grit was about half as good as it should have been given the cast and the Cohen brothers involved...
Secondly, apparently the Oscars are back to ignoring quality films that didn't have at least a 50M dollar budget. For several years, they made a pretty concerted effort to include those good films with smaller bugets...not a ton of wins, but for several years they gave a lot of nominations to small-budget wide release films, or indy films. The only reason 127 hours is nominated for anything is because James Franco is in it. I try to keep my personal biases to myself, but there were number of movies that should be nominated for the BP or Best Director category ahead of say, Winter's Bone or The Kids are alright...say Kick Ass? Besides the last 2 Batman films (thanks to Nolan) it's the only "superhero" movie in the last 5 years that's actually been good.

^^^Agree with a lot of what you said.
Side note: Apparently I cant edit my title anymore. Mod want to eliminate the "Oscar Nominations" part for me? thanks.

Based only on the movies that I have seen:
1. The King's Speech
2. Black Swan
3. Social Network
4. Inception
When I saw Inception, I thought it had a great shot to win, but I think it will fall victim to it's release being too early in the year.

Saw 3 of the 4 movies you listed (sans black swan), and I think Inception was the best of those 3, but that is my biased opinion. Inception quickly turned into one of my favorite movies. I agree its ridiculous Nolan didnt get nominated for best director, it will be an absolute crime if he doesn't win best original screen play.

I didn't see The King's Speech
But I've seen the other four you have ranked and I'd rank them in the same order. Inception and The Social Network are close.
Black Swan was a good film. Even for a movie about ballet I was engaged the entire movie. A little moreso when Portman and Kunis were getting it on.
