On February 1st the basement will be shutting down. The rules for the rest of the site will also be modified and will be strictly enforced. Personal attacks will not be tolerated. A swear filter will be implemented. Questioning or bad mouthing a moderator will lead to disciplinary action (temporary or permanent ban).

OK, not that it's deserved or required by any of us but why specifically?

Id say shutting down the basement is an attempt to clean some of this mess up here. Its certainly an admission that the basement was a BAD idea in the first place.

It works just fine...just can't have stupid call out threads personally directed, that would inevitably lead to liability issues, I get that. So just get rid of the cancer.

I dont think there is a problem with the basement at all, I actually think its a pretty good idea.
It shouldnt be tough for adults to have a mature conversation. There is nothing wrong with the basement, theres a problem with some of the posters.

Also I hope you re-evaluate some of the mods on here. There are a few that are just as bad as some of the trolls (see LJ, Cry4Fun).

Offenders are thrown in the pit in the basement blindfolded with only their own urine to drink. Occasionally, a cross dressing mod will come by and throw down a few scraps of food to eat and then casually walk away...
