He should get a shot at being the starter. I thought he looked good yesterday.

... The kid did a nice job in a very tough situation.

I think Collins needs to contact his agent and see who might be interested in his "tallents" in the Arena Football League.

Hanie has been with the Bears for a while. He is a career backup. He couldn't start over Rex Grossman or Kyle Orton, so he sure as hell ain't starting over Cutler.

Great avatar. I can't wait to see how the UofM coach does. With the Cornfackers coming to the Big-10 and a new tsun coach, will be an even more exciting next few years for Ohio State fans.

Not to change the subject....back to Haine.

His performance will definitely help come contract time. Hanie is scheduled for restricted free agency in 2011.

To go further, I believe he was on the Bears practice squad for awhile before being officially signed to the roster in 2008.

Wrong. He was an UFA in 2008. If he was on the practice squad, it was after this. Dude's 25.

I remember him being on the practice squad when Sexy Rexy left. There was debate amongst Bears fans on whether Hanie should get a shot at the job. Maybe my mind is fuzzy.

Well Grossman left after the '08 season, which is Hanie's first season, so it's very well possible Hanie was on the practice squad at the time.

Just seems so long ago. Maybe it's because I try to put the Rex years out of my mind. :D

Never had a problem with Grossman (maybe that's the Gator sympathizer with me), but I've seen a lot worse QBs get a chance to play in the NFL.

There's always someone worse. But have you seen his career since he left Chicago? There's a reason for that.

He had a decent quater and half, but to make him the starter based on that would be assine

This. He'll have a good shot at being the second string guy because of how much Todd Collins really sucks, but nothing more. He stepped up in a tough situation and did good as a sub yesterday. That doesn't mean he's starter material. Put up good numbers in a situation where the other team is planning for him and his tendencies and I'll be impressed.

That was my point. He's not that good. Did well yesterday, but he's not a starter.
