It'll definitely be a different sort of opponent than Baltimore and the Jets. Those two teams were grinders, Green Bay is more explosive. Big thing will be Pittsburgh's ability to get to Rodgers and not let him get downfield to his receivers. He was hot at the beginning against Chicago, but seemed to not do much after they got the lead. What's the status for Clifton? He got hurt and missed most of the Chicago game and I'd think him playing/not playing would have a big impact.

The experience of the Steelers is a huge advantage. Teams talk about all the distractions leading up to the game, the coaching and many players have been through this before and it becomes a little less of a factor.

Is it enough of an advantage for the Steelers?

I think the two-week break helps the Steelers more.

The Packers were in must win mode for like five weeks in a row and they were on a roll. They'd probably be better off staying with that, with another game right away.

Steelers are older and always could use the rest to get healthy. Polamalu, McFadden, Pouncey all could use that time. Maybe it helps Aaron Smith be ready.

Hopefully the title belt makes an appearance in this one!

The experience COULD help the steelers early on in the game. GB could come out with a little more nerves and make some early mistakes. How the packers deal with early nerves will essentially determine the outcome of this game. If they are within 10 at halftime then they will win this game.

If they allow the early nerves to snowball into a 2-3 TD lead then we could see a blowout.

I am still saying GB 35-24 over the steelers.

Its ok.....8 trips....6 wins for the steelers...as a fan I have to be proud of that.

The Steelers passing game should work pretty well on the turf, too.

They have some speedy receivers. And I think Ben will play well in good weather conditions.

Green Bay hasn't had much of a running game all season, but that doesn't mean they'll shy away from it. Starks has done well for them in his limited time so far, and Kuhn has done great in short yardage situations. Packers hit the Bears for some big yardage on play-action passes. They'll at least try to make the Steelers respect the run a little bit in order to utilize play-action.

This should be a pretty big event. The host committee has a budget of 40 million dollars compared to 16 million last year. The Steelers will stay in Fort Worth and practice at TCU. The Pack will stay in Irving and practice at SMU.

Glad to see a former steeler will be officiating this game. Always liked him..then he bolted to Seattle. Think he did well out there but kinda is like..outta site..outta mind.

We'll see, I expect a really good game. The Pack wasn't great at protecting Rodgers this year, gave up 38 sacks (which was a vast improvement over last year, mind you), but have only given up 5 in their three postseason games. Of course, the Steelers did have the most sacks in the regular season (one ahead of GB with 48 this year).

As far as the 80,000 fans I think the crowd will be pretty split, at least moreso than any Super Bowl in recent memory. The Steelers and Packers are two of the best traveling fanbases in the league.

I don't think picking the Packers is dumb. There is no lock in this game.

Pouncey's parents were there. I remember when they were (I think) sophs their dad was in an accident at work and lost a leg. He was up and around in no time, tough stock is what I'm saying.
Here is a post from a Gator board, she was in the front row behind the Steeler bench. If you saw a Gator flag on the railing by Ed Hochuli's replay peepshow booth, that was hers.

When Pouncey got hurt, everyone was silent and upset. Then the crowd started chanting "Pouncey, Pouncey" he still didn't get up. Then when he stood up, they were chanting again "Pouncey, Pouncey" it was awesome. He was carted away and a bit later, I saw a guy sitting on the bench looking at xrays of an ankle. In the 2nd half, he came out on crutches with a boot on his left leg.
At the last drive, when the steelers were trying to run out the clock the lineman all gathered together then they were looking around for Pouncey. He came limping over and HE was the guy in the lineman's huddle firing up the O-line. It was awesome to see.

this was from this morning, it'll be a gameday decision but he will take an injection and suit up. No way he sits out the Super Bowl.

You can bet the farm that the Steeler Nation will invade Dallas and take over that stadium. They did it at Super Bowl XL and XLIII and this place can seat 100K. I don't know about 80K Steeler fans but they'll have a "home crowd" advantage.
