I just read this on Yahoo. One has to wonder if the people at Comcast said something to the effect of "We ain's finalizing this deal until you get rid of this clown!".

May his ugly face and grating voice never grace a TV set again -- ever.

+1. Good riddance.

Still, I want to know why he is gone.

Both sides are being quite mum. But nothing much has changed, it's been the same old shit for a while. I have trouble believing Comcast cared, but why all of a sudden did the same old song and dance lead to a contract termination?

Oh, well. He was horrible. Maybe its because he was forced to play partisan politics for the left and he was getting sick of being a ass puppet to some MSNBC big wig. That TV channel is a complete joke.

Yeah, I could see that.
The rest of the channel is crap, except Morning Joe. I love that show as it bucks all the trends and partisan BS.

Morning Joe is awesome. I'm a little confused just from a business perspective as to why they (either MSNBC or CC) would fire him - he was the #1 show on MSNBC...this is just kind of confusing. I'm sure there's a clause in his contract that states he will forfeit any severance for early termination if he discusses the intricacies of what went down...which is a shame cuz im curious

Morning Joe works because they hide their left-leaning agenda behind Scarborough, who would be considered a RINO by many Repubs these days. It is every bit as leftist as any other show on MSNBC, they just put lipstick and a dress on it.

just because they're not calling everyone who doesn't agree with them a socialist doesn't make it leftist

I may disagree with his political commentary, but I am not one to froth at the mouth over political commentators. I think NBC's policy on banning private political donations is BS. As a private organization they have the right to have that policy. We all know where he stands politically. Let him contribute the money he earns as he sees fit. If this was the reason why he left good for him.

You will not see me pitch a bitch about the mainstream media, MSNBC, CNN, or any media outlet. I have my opinions on political biases. But their is more than enough media outlets out there that neutralize them. There is plenty of competition in the media and the free market is thriving in this area of the market.

With the internet, talk radio, and cable news, if he has enough people that enjoy his commentary he will find a market. If not he will fall by the wayside.

Oh I'm certain he'll find employment somewhere but I doubt it'll ba talk radio. For some reason liberal-based talk radio tanks. I can see Olberdouche getting his job back at ESPN along side Mark May with a new show called, "Crack A Nut" with the sole premise designed around pissing off rabid Ohio State fans. ;)

Good bye and good luck asshole....You were no Edward R. Murrow

I don't think it stops at him though, I can see comcast execs slowly cleaning house, with rachel maddow being next....it's all about ratings folks.

I'm one that thinks that Comcast doesn't want to be holding the reigns to the biggest joke overall of cable news. My bet is that their cleaning house one room at a time, starting with the outhouse. Since MSNBC has the lowest ratings, their gonna try to make it better in the interest of making more money.

I would argue that Beck is the biggest joke in cable news. Olbermann is trash though.

Your opinion of Beck is understandable, but the ratings say something else.

Funny thing about Beck....he actually made this prediction last year when the merger was being announced. Glenn has to be smiling right now.

I've never liked Olbermann and I think there are many things he has done over the years to dig his grave. However, I think MSNBC's coverage of the elections back in November was the biggest joke ever. Even if you are a bleeding heart liberal, I still don't see how you could look at Olbermann's coverage that evening and say you were OK with it. It was a travesty and even Beck, Hannity and Bill O. on their worst days are not out there pulling the antics seen on that show like calling the American people stupid.

I had forgotten (block out?) how bad that was. It was arguably the most biased, inaccurate (deliberately so) "reporting" I've seen during any election in my lifetime. If Comcast watched that, they had to be wondering what the heck they were getting into by purchasing NBC.

Ratings also say Jersey Shore is the best show on cable, but I think we all know better than that ;)

People watch things they agree with or find amusing, doesn't make the program any more or less correct/good (and this goes for both sides when talking about cable news programs).
Be it sitcoms, game shows, or news programs, insanity by consensus doesn't necessarily make it right.

Apparently, lol.

But in the grand scheme of things, if we take into account all stations (network and cable) at 8PM on Thursday (the day Oats posted)... sure, there's the crazies watching their political shows that are slanted in the direction of their hack of choice, but the vast majority of the country doesn't give a shit either way and was watching American Idol (21M) or Big Bang Theory (13M), or even Wipeout (7M)

And yes, those people are insane too, I hate all of those shows... haha.

Here's a TMZ take on Olbermann, for whatever that's worth
