IMO, Conley was a better all around point guard as a freshman...Craft may be a little stronger and play tighter defense, but Conley was quicker and able to get to the bucket and create opportunities, either with his shot or dishing off. The one thing I like about Craft is his non stop motor--Conley seemed to be more laid back and not as intense. Both have a tremendous upside, and I think most coaches would take either one to quarterback their team--even as freshmen.

I thought Conley really turned up his game in the tourney. Aaron is still a pretty good player, but I don't think he's quite on the same level as Conley yet.

Craft is a player, but sorry he doesn't compare to Conley. The only nod I'd give him is his on the ball defense.

Craft will eventually be a better PG in COLLEGE than Conley, but he will NEVER be the player Conley is in the NBA. Conley's game was built for the NBA.

Craft doesn't have the 1-on-1 game to truly be a legit NBA PG. He can run your offense, play tough defense, and knock down shots when open, but Conley was a creator on offense. A guy who would kill his guy off the dribble and attack the interior of the defense.

I love Craft, easily one of my favorite Buckeyes, but I think some of you forget just how great Conley was.

Conley started off a little slow in his NBA career, but he has definitely picked it up. Craft will be very lucky to be a consistent NBA player.

Nobody said Craft would be some all-star point guard in the NBA. He's not going to be a Rondo or Rose or anyone like that.

Do I think he'll play in the NBA? Hell I don't know, how bout we wait another 2-3 years to see how far he's actually developed. Right now he's a freshman and isn't going anywhere.

Obviously you can't read. Dynasty said he thinks Craft has more PRO POTENTIAL than Mike Conley. THAT is what I disputed. Craft will never average 13/7 in the NBA.

Craft has better size than Conley, which is why he has more potential. The NBA Pt's are getting bigger and bigger and Craft would be better suited to guard the position because of his size. Conley is a good player and will always be quicker, but Craft has advantages that Conley doesn't.

And if Chris Quinn, whom I love, can play in the NBA then I think Craft can.

I think Craft could play in the NBA, but I think he will need the perfect situation. I can definitely see him being a good pick and roll PG in the NBA.

He brought up a good example too in Chris Quinn. CQ was ALWAYS called a "player".

Are you high? Craft has more potential?

Sorry I don't see it. Until he shows he can get to the rim at will and dish it like Conley I will have to disagree.

Dynasty, size isn't the biggest factor as a PG in the NBA. Nobody is saying Craft CAN'T play in the NBA.... That's not the argument.

The argument lies in the fact that you're saying he has MORE potential than Mike Conley...

Just no. The NBA is an entirely different set up than college. Mike's game FITS the NBA perfectly. Craft's doesn't.

When you watch the NBA, the PG's are guys who break their man down then either finish themselves or find the open man. Craft is a very good passer, but he lacks that speed and dribbling ability to truly break down his man at that level.

And lets calm down the size difference... Conley is 6'1 185... Craft is 6'2 195. It's not as if Craft is some 6'4 freak at the point.

The PG position for Ohio State should be very interesting next year, with Shannon Scott's arrival. Shannon Scott is the son of Charlie Scott, the first black athlete on scholarship at North Carolina and a 5 time NBA All-Star.

Scott, the #7 ranked PG in the 2011 class, plays for Milton Georgia the #9 team in the country. Last weekend he scored 22 points, leading his team in an upset of #1 Oak Hill Academy. He was unstoppable, driving around and through the Oak Hill players, until they went to a zone defense. Scott out played Oak Hill's PG Quinn Cook, the #5 PG in the country, who's headed to Duke next year.

I would say most people who keep talking about Conley as pro have never even seen a game of his, for God sakes he plays for Memphis. Also just b/c you can drive and get to the rim doesn't make you a good point guard. Steve Nash who is 35 isn't blowing by people but he's still a great point guard 17 points per and 11 asst. per. The NBA is completely different style of game, one that uses a ton of pick and rolls which open up lanes for guys to get to the rim.

Conley was a better PG as a Freshman but Craft isn't a slouch which I've stated from the beginning. Craft is one of, if not, the best defender in the B10 right now.

Like Matta has said, if Craft is needed to score then he can score but on this team he is usually the #5 option for scoring when on the floor (Sully, Lighty, Buford, Diebler all ahead).

Watched him play since the 7th grade, as LB is on our HS schedule. The kid has been special from the 1st time I saw him. Some people I know had their doubts about him playing Div 1 Basketball in the Big 10. I never did. As far as NBA material, I wouldn't put it past him. He could score more if the team needed it. His desire, intelligence, and court awareness will take him a long way. He live's in the gym and still has 3 years left.....

No you didnt stutter, you were typing...id sure hope you didnt stutter.

Plays tough defense yes....but not against the type of athletes hed be matched up with in the NBA at the Pg position(especially now with the new wave of explosive athletic Pg's in the league) He runs an efficient offense yes, hes good at running set plays which is great for college. But in the NBA unless you play for Sloan, theres not many sets...mostly 1 on 1 drive and dish or pick and roll. I could see him MAYBE making an NBA roster, but kinda end up like Chris Quinn if he does. He had a HELL of a career in a big conference, around the same size....and he struggles to even get on the floor

Craft isn't NEAR where Quinn was at similar stages. Quinn was much, much further along skill/offensively. Not near as strong, but so much further along offensively. Craft will only get better. And I should never say never. But I don't see Craft playing in the NBA. Long way to go, who knows. But he needs to improve tremendously with his skills.
And no way does Craft have more potential then Mike Conley. Conley was a freaking stud as a frosh. He carried OSU to the title game. Craft isn't near the athlete nor have the PG abilities that Conley had.
Again, I LOVE Craft. But he has his limitations.

Quinn doesn't have the lateral quickness that Craft does. I think that is Crafts biggest asset. Also I could really see him developing into a really good perimeter shooter, something that is lacking in Conley's game.

True, but Quinn had/has absolutely sick handles/skills. Some people do not realize how good Chris Quinn was/is. And was/is a MUCH better athlete then many people realized as well.

Will Taylor Battle and McCamey play in the NBA...get drafted? I haven't looked at any projections but Craft certainly gave both of them fits. I'd say those are two of the better PG's in the country this year, just don't know what their NBA prospects are. I think four years from now, Craft will be in the league but that's just opinion. He will likely have to share some PG minutes the next three years compared to this year- which is a factor.

Can you imagine how good he will be in 2 years?
