No, that's a pretty solid list. Heard probably should have won it this year. Macon certainly had a good argument last year. McCarthy and Collaros were obvious to everyone by the AP. Ashley is interesting, a good argument could be made for him but I'm not sure who I'd give it to from '05.

Hard to argue against Mooney or Steubenville players winning the award, they're 2 of a handful of the best programs in the state the past 6 years. Hands down McCarthy should have run away with it in 2007.d.woods50fan. wrote:IMHOSQ_Crazies wrote: IMO, the last 5 have been BS. The 4 before that, Sutton, Williams, Mauk and Clarett were legit.
2009 - Braylon Heard
2008 - Dwight Macon
2007 - Dan Mccarthy
2006 - Zach Collaros
2005 - Darius Ashley

McCarthy was definitely the biggest snub of all IMO. Collaros is a close second.

Yeah, you should be more sorry--McCarthy really was a joy to watch. Probably the most dynamic high school player I've ever seen in person.d.woods50fan. wrote: ^^^^ both glad and sorry didnt see him in 2007 !!! Glad because 2nd string did enough and sorry because love to watch great players live !!!

Congratulations to Mr. Howard, remember he is not the one that did the voting. As for those who did vote, you need to find another job.

Yep, he is a high school kid. If he cries reading this thread then he's going to need to grow up quickly because he's about to graduate.
I gave him his due, he's clearly a talented player--you don't put up numbers like his and break records like he has if you aren't. I just don't think he's the best player in the state this year, nor do I think he was last year.

MR. Howard=Mr. Football!!!!! Now who is laughing last, skank. Looks like the Federal League is NOT a joke!! How many Massillon (or should I say, kids that have played there. We all know they are not homegrown.) players have won Mr. Football now?

I was responding to someone(I wonder who?) comparing community college to a penitentiary. That was low.SQ_Crazies wrote: Yep, he is a high school kid. If he cries reading this thread then he's going to need to grow up quickly because he's about to graduate.

I don't agree with the voters either.

Well if its me your referring to then you misunderstood what I meant. I really think Williams ended up going to community college after he got done serving his time.Darkon wrote:I was responding to someone(I wonder who?) comparing community college to a penitentiary. No one is taking it away from him BAC. He's a two time winner--no one can dispute that. But it seems that the vast majority don't agree with the selection.

Actually it says something to have a 2 time Mr. Football and never make a state quarterfinal even with him? I am a Hertler guy, but when are you going to have a better chance??

I don't always agree with the winner of this award. Howard was not even the leading rusher in all of Ohio if this was just based on offensive stats alone. But I mean BUT. Mr. Ohio is is voted on as the best players in all of the state.....Not just offense.....
Offensive Stats: 337 Carries, 2,056 Yards, 6.1 Average, 27 Touchdowns
Defensive Stats: 102 tackles, 5 TFL's, 3 Sacks, 4 Caused Fumbles, 1 Interception
Now I really believe that shows he is the best all around player in the State this year.
