Is it legal to push the punting team's man who is trying to down the ball into the end zone, with the ball breaking the plane, to keep it from being downed inside the 5 yd line? Seems like he had control and it should be blown dead before he goes into the end zone!

Thats not why it was ruled a TB. It was ruled a TB because the first guy who touched the ball did have both feet down in the field of play after being in the endzone.

But no the ball would have been downed at the 3 where the Packers player had it before being pushed into the endzone.

There is no way officials should be asked to judge intent. The rule is in place for a reason. It sucked for the bears there, but they had to call it.

Do you mean the first guy was ruled to NOT have gotten his two feet back established back out of the end zone before he touched the ball again?
