I don't want to say I love drinking, but I do look at sobriety as that thing people engage in when they decide their life no longer is worth anything, so they want to bow out with a whimper and patiently wait for death.

And when I say "sobriety", I don't just mean it as a lifestyle. I mean that if you aren't drinking or making preparations to drink RIGHT DAMN NOW, you are a big FAIL.

Like, right now, I'm in "making preparations" mode. I'm cooking a big pre-football lunch to give myself a base. Then, I'll shower and run into town to make sure I am stocked up on supplies. And then...it's football on one TV, college basketball on the other and a never-empty rum-n-coke glass in front of me. Eventually, I'll wake up in bed and see that it's about noon or later on Sunday.

Much less since I became a parent in 07. A couple of times a month in the winter and more frequently in summer neighborhood get togethers. Most always cold beer, occasionally manhattans, bourbons on the rocks, and dirty vodka martinis. Not much for wine, but occasionally. Shots when necessary :).

I remember saying when I got my own place i would come home from work and at least have a few beers every night. Did it for a while, but it slowly went away. Now a couple of beers at dinner sometimes, most drinking is socially with friends/parties.

I drink about every night, I honestly feel much better in the morning when I have about 4-6 beers to get a good nights sleep in. On the weekend I have much more and wake up feeling like ass on Sunday, but if I limit myself, I'm actually more productive.

I feel sorry for those who don't drink, because when they wake up in the morning that's the best they'll feel all day.

Generally, I have have a beer or two any time I get a chance, not for the purpose of getting drunk, but I love good craft beer.

In HS I drank 2 sometimes 3 nights a week. In college, I drank 4 nights a week. Senior year of college i drank 6 days and nights a week. I didnt always get trashed, but usually got drunk.

Since graduation, Ill drink as often as I can...just so happens that isnt as often as Id like. Working Friday and Saturday nights (and nights in general) takes its toll on the partying.

I enjoy drinking some beer after work or a bit more on the weekends, but I don't drink nearly like I did in college or I would be dead. Frankly, I can't believe I survived college looking back on it.

Agreed. For me, I don't even drink that often at all. I bet I am lucky to drink one alcoholic drink every two months, particularly this time of the year. To me, nothing beats an iced cold beer on a hot summer day after mowing the yard.

I enjoy a GOOD drink. I don't drink to drink, but if there is a quality beer or decent sipping drink, I'm always game.

Interesting. BAM was my nickname in college. Unrelated to that game, though.

I haven't had a drink since July 4th, but I already have instructed baby daddy that there better be a chilled bottle of wine for me once I pop out this kid. I rarely drink just to get drunk, but I'm definitely missing a glass of wine and a good book in the evening.

This Irish Catholic does NOT drink.
There is nothing out there alcohol related that I can say, "You know that tastes good"
And I refuse to eat or drink anything I don't like.

I agree with this part.

I never understood drinking stuff that tastes nasty to get sloshed.

But I do think a lot of beers taste really good, personally. Just had an Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout last night over a Rocky Patel Decade and the book I'm reading. All around, a good evening.
