So an inner city private school that has voucher kids could have those kids act as divider's if they qualify for free lunches?

I guess I just never would have assumed a school that costs so much to go to would have to worry about free lunches.

The voucher system has allowed many kids from impoverished areas to attend private schools. Those kids almost always apply for the free lunches.

In addition, a lot of kids that attend private schools come from families that are not extremely well off. Parents work two jobs each to be able to afford the tuition. A lot of times, those students can qualify for free or reduced lunches.

This is just one indication of the sacrifice many families make to send their children to a school of their choice as opposed to one that is chosen for them.

I went to Central Catholic. My family was far from well off with my mom being a nurse and dad a welder. But no one I knew at ccc was on free lunch. I can't even think off hand who woulda been.

The poverty level is considerably higher than 7k, and if you are on a voucher you are not paying 7k.

this shows the lack of true knowledge regarding the culture of catholic schools. at least 1/3 of the students at my catholic high school were on free lunches due to being below the poverty line.

Interesting that for sports, some people consider this an "unfair" advantage that needs a remedy. Sad in a way.

I understand this. It seems that tuition would be an unnecessary expense and would somehow impact eligibilty for free lunches.

If you reside in a failing school district, you can get a voucher to use to pay tuition at a private school.

It all depends upon the formula they use. Until we see the formula, no one knows. They may have a hard time developing a formula that will make enough schools happy to pass it.
