Chris Korb went 33rd to DC United and Anthony Ampaipitakwong went 38th to San Jose too. Chivas loves the Zips as Blair Gavin, Ben Zemanski and now Zarek Valentin will all most likely start for them this season.

Congrats to all the Zips!

Perry Kitchen will be the best player out of this draft. I think he has an outside shot to be playing for the USMNT in Brazil.

Agree, coming off being the captain of the U20 and a good freshman year with the Zips he made a good move going pro. He'll have more pro experience and the ability to play in qualifying matches that he wouldn't have had if he stayed in school.

Not to mention, defense right now is a major hole for the US. Their main guys are all aging, and I dont see a whole lot of talent to fill in. In the mid/forward positions, you can see the talent, even though it hasnt shined through 100% yet. I think our attacking players are more visible than defense, and Kitchen had to have known that. If he wanted to be a part of the USMNT plans going forward (which, obviously he does) he had to come out now.

Interesting note....

Wayne Rooney's younger brother, John, was selected 25th by the NY Red Bulls

Congrats to two guys I played club ball with Konrad Warzycha and JT Murray both being drafted by Sporting FC. Found myself a new team to root for, really hope these two guys can stick around in the league.

But yeah, now we know why the Zips have dominated college soccer the last two years.
