Brewers went out and got Greinke.

Cubs get Garza.

Pirates will go with Scott Olsen!

Garza should do well in the NL

his last three seasons he's had ERAs of 3.70, 3.95 and 3.91

and WHIPs of 1.24, 1.26 and 1.25

pretty good numbers considering he's faced the Red Sox and Yankees a bunch of times

15-10 record last season

Rays traded him because they knew they weren't going to afford him. Of course though, the system in the MLB is just fine. /sarcasm

I bet he likes the BCS too. Can't wait for him to chime in and talk about the NBA! /sarcasm.

Afterall, there is more parity in baseball so theres no problem with the salary cap or lack thereof

It might not end up being that bad of a move for the Rays.

They'll take a step back next year. They've lost some key guys and the Red Sox have gotten stronger.

But pitching wise they have Price and Hellickson, a potential 1-2. And just based on the stats it sounds like they got some good prospects in return.

Dont like this move for the Cubs at all, but I dont like the Cubs so I dont care lol.

Garza is solid, but they traded a lot and he wont be better than a single contenders #2 in the NL (Phils, Braves, Cards, BrewCrew, Giants, etc). In that respect, they didnt get enough on their return.

As one of two Rays fans here (Hb follows them too) I am stoked about the return. We got the Cubs minor league hitter and pitcher of the year for their organization, another guy that stole 32 bases. The move definitely makes sense and with Helickson ready to step in I doubt this affects our pitching staff that much. ESPN rumor central says we're in the running for Vlad as well.

Let's just hope Desmond Jennings works out and we can find some power to replace Pena's HR count. Anyone can do better than his average.

....and meanwhile the Indians are dead set and determined to fill the bleachers....in the depths of winter....by putting a sledding hill there. The owner has decided that now is NOT the time to spend money.....and so have the fans. Who needs a third baseman when we can snowboard! Besides MLB 3rd basemen aren't that hard to find. Even if we can't, we can always make one out of a utility guy or a left fielder.

ever think they may have traded Garza because the return they could get from a desperate franchise far outweighed his value on the mound? The Rays got a nice haul in return.

You guys have already repeated my talking points, so there is no need to rehash it. Baseball has just as much parity as many (and more than the NBA) other professional leagues.

I'm not sure why one team selling high on a headcase pitcher = a problem with MLB's system
