Should be important to note: Jed York is a Notre Dame alum. So not only did he weaken Stanford with this hire, but he also screwed Michigan over quite well. Well done.

Yeah, I don't get how it always works this way. I realize sometimes you have to take chances on people, but for an NFL team to go all out on such an unproven commodity just baffles me. Of course, think about how many proven shitty coaches get rehired several times in the NFL.

To me, Harbaugh was one of the top two college guys who weren't in career places, so I expected any top college programs to go after him. The extent of the turnaround at Stanford is the amazing thing, though like a lot of guys who have pulled off one great season at a weak ass school have proven, staying at that level is much more difficult. Probably as good of a time as any for Harbaugh to make a move, following up this season with a couple mediocre ones could've made that ship sail.

Didn't Barry Switzer and Bill Walsh have success at both levels? You're right though, there isn't more than maybe 5 coaches that have had success at both levels. Two different mindsets for college and pro.
