2012 news:
Once converted to Ohio State, it seems the Borens just keep coming. Jacoby Boren yesterday committed to the Buckeyes as part of the 2012 recruiting class.
"It wasn't totally predetermined, but I basically felt like it was time," Boren said after giving coach Jim Tressel a pledge.
At 6 feet 21/2 and 275 pounds, the two-way lineman from Pickerington Central not only became the fifth commitment to the 2012 class, but also will become the third Boren brother to choose Ohio State. Fifth-year senior Justin Boren is the starting left guard, and sophomore Zach the starting fullback.
Their father, Mike, was a linebacker for coach Bo Schembechler at Michigan in the 1980s, and their mother, Hope, ran track there. Justin Boren spent his first two seasons at Michigan under coach Lloyd Carr before transferring to Ohio State after Rich Rodriguez was hired.
Mike Boren said, "I am very thankful to coach Tressel and the entire Ohio State football program for believing in my boys and giving them this opportunity. I am thankful every day for their successes. I am very proud of them, and we are proud to be Buckeyes."
Jacoby said he could sense that in his father.
"He definitely is proud; this is something that doesn't happen a lot, three brothers going to the same (major) school to play football," he said.
The last time it happened at Ohio State was the mid 1970s, when Archie, Ray and Duncan Griffin played for the Buckeyes. Trumping that, Ohio State football historian Jack Park said, were the Kabealo brothers from Youngstown in the 1930s. John and Mike Kabealo each lettered three years for the Buckeyes; the other two, Charles and George, never lettered.
Jacoby Boren is penciled in as a guard or center once he joins the Buckeyes, which he plans to do the winter of his senior year as an early enrollee.
"I'm real excited and happy, and I'm also relieved, not having to worry about the recruiting stuff anymore," he said. "I can concentrate on my high-school team next fall, help us maybe get a little farther in the state playoffs (Pickerington Central lost to Hilliard Davidson in the second round this year), graduate early and then start getting ready to play for the Buckeyes."

Tressel is at the Division 5 State Championship game watching Ursuline and Coldwater. I hope he offers Youngstowns RB Akise Teague, this kid is nasty, but of course Rivals has him as a 2 star...

Does he translate well to the College level? I'm not knocking D5 football but thats a huge jump and he'd prob rs.

He is small, probably too small to be a Big Ten running back. He is for real though, could be a great slot receiver I'd think. Ursuline isn't a Division 5 caliber HS football team and didn't play a typical Division 5 schedule.

Tressel has shown that he can utilize guys in the slot. If he's good enough for MSU etc than he should be good enough for tOSU.

I think you are allowing Divisions to mislead you. Ursuline is probably a D-II caliber team, if not D-I. Too small for BigTen? Javon Ringer (MUS) 5'9", Damian Anderson (NW) 5'9", Anthony Davis (Wisc) 5'7", Mike Hart (UM) 5'8", and that's just a few. So I don't think you can judge him on his height alone. Also, there are a few players on OSU's team that are from lower Divisional Ohio teams. The Homans are from Coldwater (D-V), Saine (Piqua).......

If Teague does get an offer, it will likely be of the "athlete" variety. He isn't likely to play RB in the already overcrowded backfield.
I would be surprised if Tressel does off soon, however. OSU is limited on the amount of 'ships available so he may be a back-up option.

Also, although very old news, CB Dionte Allen transfered to OSU from FSU in August of this year. He will have one year of eligibility left.
Allen was the #5 rated CB in 2007, per rivals.

I think the coaches know what they are doing.

I know he is a stud, but I just don't see him working at Ohio State or the Big 10. I could be wrong, but just my feeling.

And how many big time recruits has OSU gotten and they did not turn into what we expected them too, plenty! Tress needs to offer this guy, I believe with coaching, this guy will be an athlete OSU can definitely use.

OSU will be hosting JuCo recruit DE Tank Carradine this weekend for an official visit. Carradine is generally regarded as the #1 JuCo player in the nation. Carradine, 6'5" 245 lbs, has offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida State, Oregon, and Georgia among others.
Carradine will be making his announcement soon, as December 15 is the signing date for JuCo players. He will be a January enrollee.

Clowney the nations #1 recruit has scheduled his last official visit with tOSU. He is an extreme long shot. Its good when the best kid in the country wants to visit.

There is no way clowney comes to osu imo..... if he did I believe he would see immediate playing time but I think its just wishfull thinking that he ends up here. If I had to predict I think he stays home at south carolina

^^ That is the definition of extreme long shot.
In other news Ryan Shazier a OLB commit to florida (also teammate of Jeremy Cash OSU Commit) called our coaches for an Official Visit immediatly after hearing of Urban quiting. He will be at tOSU on the 15th. Also LB Curtis Grant and CB Jabari Gorman are two top OSU targets that OSU is battling florida among others for.

Hard to say. Not sure if his head is screwed back on quite right yet, not sure if Tress and Co want him back or not. I don't know if anyone has even offered him a scholly yet.
Wide receiver Duron Carter (6'3-200, 4.6), son of former NFL All-Pro Cris Carter, has LSU in his sights. No offer has been extended yet, but the 2009 Ohio State signee out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida had LSU in his final 4 along with the Buckeyes, South Florida and West Virginia before following in his father's footsteps.
Carter, currently at Coffeyville Community Colege, has LSU, Oregon, Oklahoma and USC competing for his services. Carter is considered a fierce competitor.
Another prospect that we have spoken about is Hinds Community Colege DE Leon Mackey. The 6-foot-5 260 pounder was an original signee at Clemson. He does have an offer from LSU but South Carolina may be the team to beat.

That is definitely news to me. I knew he was coming up for a visit Wednesday but hadn't heard any rumors about a commitment. Hopefully Cash can talk him into coming up north.
In other recruiting news, Tank Carradine was a no-show this past weekend for his visit. He is supposed to announce Wednesday of this week. OSU is likely out.

That is what is all over the premium boards... I think this class end with Shazier, Dorian Grant, Gorman and some random kid.
