You're right. Kobe's situation was much worse and he also has teammates that depend on him. I'm now even more sure that this will not have a large negative affect on his game. Actually this may make him better as he could become more focused on his game to take his mind off of his personal problems.

Or the fact that basketball doesn't take 1/10th of the mental aspect the game of golf does. A lot's going to change for Tiger.. that affects you. It sure isn't going to help his golf game any.

How do you know it will negatively affect his game? O wait, you don't. You want it to negatively affect his game. People react differently to situations. Just like a great QB can be horrible under pressure, and an average QB can look like Joe Montana when the pressure heats up.

I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves. I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect. I am dealing with my behavior and personal failings behind closed doors with my family. Those feelings should be shared by us alone.

Although I am a well-known person and have made my career as a professional athlete, I have been dismayed to realize the full extent of what tabloid scrutiny really means. For the last week, my family and I have been hounded to expose intimate details of our personal lives. The stories in particular that physical violence played any role in the car accident were utterly false and malicious. Elin has always done more to support our family and shown more grace than anyone could possibly expect.

But no matter how intense curiosity about public figures can be, there is an important and deep principle at stake which is the right to some simple, human measure of privacy. I realize there are some who don't share my view on that. But for me, the virtue of privacy is one that must be protected in matters that are intimate and within one's own family. Personal sins should not require press releases and problems within a family shouldn't have to mean public confessions.

Whatever regrets I have about letting my family down have been shared with and felt by us alone. I have given this a lot of reflection and thought and I believe that there is a point at which I must stick to that principle even though it's difficult.

I will strive to be a better person and the husband and father that my family deserves. For all of those who have supported me over the years, I offer my profound apology.

Wow Tiger's statement is weak. That makes me respect him even less. Instead of taking his medicine and expressing remorse, he attacks the media for invading his privacy (i.e. if it wasn't for the media he wouldn't have got caught) and says he has "let his family down." Well no crap Tiger

I think for the first time in his career I want to see him go get the major's record just for the simple fact that I thought he was losing some incentive to do so.

He showed a lack of discipline in his personal life. It's sad. Now I want to see some more competitive golf with people trying to knock him off and him trying to stay on top.

Your post didn't read that way. Regardless, it's clear on this forum and even on the other huddle that you hate Tiger, which is fine but don't let his personal life cloud your judgement of what he has and will accomplish in golf. Players like Tiger and Jack only come around once in a life time.

They aren't.

A couple of things here-

1. If he stays married and tries to mend his relationship with his wife it will undoubtably affect his golf performance for the negative. He will have to put in more hours at home, which means less on the course

2. If he gets divorced, after it is finalized...he will become better than ever. You've been in those shitty relationships..it wears on you. Once its over, he will feel refreshed and what always happens when guys goes through divorce? They refocus and repriortize and he will throw himself into his work which will be bad for other tour golfers.

Tbone, Tiger has kids with Elin, even if they get divorced it is never over unless he's the worst father in the world, which I'm presuming he isn't.

Honestly, it two years we won't care. He will still be ripping up the course. They'll either get divorced, or stay together...but he'll still be dominating the PGA

also considering the amount of adultry that goes on, I would say being faithful is not normal.

I nave never cheated on my wife but there are things in my life that have happened that I wouldn't want the whole world to know about.

No, but I didn't cheat on my wife, and I won't.....it sounds like you would despite your claim. I'm not stupid and I wasn't born yesterday, I have friends that are divorced, I have friends that cheated, all of them that did - none of them was shocking.

Pmoney25... when you have millions of dollars and are on the road for more than half of the year, things like this will happen. However when you lead a normal life and make normal money the situation he is in is more unlikely. Thus that is why everyone has the holier than thou mentality.

It really isn't that hard to not to cheat on your wife.

This isn't my real problem though. My real problem is that once he was got he tried giving that BS excuse of "well it truly is unfortunate that I have no privacy"

I love when people compare themselves to Tiger, MJ, and Kobe. You are not them. You have no idea what they go through. They have gorgeous women throwing themselves at them daily. I doubt you face the same temptation.

I'm not defending Tiger's affair, but don't act like you can relate. You can't.

Right it isn't hard, but if you are at home and don't have the $ burning a hole in your pocket and don't have women throwing themselves at you the chances of you cheating are less.
