If we can get Rice then great, we will obviously know where our first round pick will be. But I'm not holding my breath, nor do I think we are going to get him. I just don't care anymore who we draft this year, because unless we draft cam newton, we can't really go wrong with our pick.

Gotcha, double negative. I'll change it.

Necktie was released?!! He could come in and replace the lost holding calls that will be missed by the Matador's departure.

Now I'm not suggesting the Browns do this so don't shoot the messenger. Vernon Gholston was released by the Jets today and was a complete bust as a 3-4 OLB. The dude is strictly a hand in the dirt 4-3 DE. What would the thoughts be on bringing him in at the veteran minimum to try to rejuvenate his career?

No problem with it....he is still young and talented. He has always had all the measurables....but even at OSU he disappeared from time to time.

I'd say he disappeared in NY for 3 years.

That being said my thought is meh, why not? He'd provide line depth and we're going to need a bunch of D-Linemen with our switch to the 4-3

Gholston was in a bad system for his talents. Worth taking a flyer on, imo.

I'd like to take a chance on him as well.....he is a true defensive end in the 4-3 and could be a key contributer to the defense next year as a young veteran.

Any Browns fans interested in AJ Hawk if he is released? He played really well at the end of the year, but is best suited for the 4-3.

Did you just seriously just ask on an OHIO forum if a team devoid of talent/Defense players/playmakers/talent would be interested in a top 5 pick in the draft play making LBer who came from THE Ohio State University where he played/was the star on an amazing defense; would be interested in a signing AJ Hawk? Yes I think you'll find some interest from the browns fans on these boards.

Actually, he asked if we'd be interested in TWO former OSU players.

And the answer is Yes, Yes a thousand times Yes.

I asked because alot of people don't think Hawk has lived up to expectations. Him being a Buckeye should have nothing to do w/ whether or not the Browns should go after him if he's available.

He hasn't lived up to top-5 I suppose, but he has been a very good player and key piece of the SB winning Packers defense. If him and Matthews were picked at each others' spots then people would say that they both play at expectations.

Oh, I agree. Hawk has been very solid but not top 5 pick worthy.

he ran a 4.43 and 4.44. i loved watching boise state this year and wouldn't mind having either one. pettis ran a 4.59 he is more savy and isn't such a vertical threat. i think young would fit better here.

So if the Browns are on the clock right now with the 6th pick and still available are: Patrick Peterson, AJ Green and Marcell Dareus, who do you pick?

Patrick Peterson, without a doubt. Then Green, then Dareus

I would go with Peterson...I think there is a lot of talent especially at DL in the draft and can get some help there in the 2nd or 3rd round. But I dont know if I can see Peterson being around at #6.

I don't know but I got to put together a big board for the browns by tomorrow. I am picking for them in a mock draft on another board. This is what I have so far, but I am not sure if I have Fairly and Dareus in the right spots, as Dareus lit up the combine...

Bowers
Fairly
Peterson
Dareus
Miller
Green

What about Marvin Austin from UNC? He is a really good player and he put up some good numbers at the combine... What about him as the 2nd round pick? If the browns go with a DE or WR in the 1st...
