With this receiving core as it is, luck wouldn't take them to an 11-5 record..sorry

lol did you see lucks wide recievers this year?SportsAndLady;1027595 wrote:With this receiving core as it is, luck wouldn't take them to an 11-5 record..sorry
i really like the wide recievers in the free agent group this year.BR1986FB;1027580 wrote:Here are the WR free agents. This is why I'm saying Blackmon isn't a necessity with their first pick. The WR corps is already "green" so they don't need to use a top pick on it and put all of that pressure on him. They need a proven vet who can teach these young guys (Little, Norwood, MoMass...if they keep him) the nuances of the game.

That's the GREAT part about it....the receiving corps WON'T be the same as it was this year. Heckert will upgrade.SportsAndLady;1027595 wrote:With this receiving core as it is, luck wouldn't take them to an 11-5 record..sorry
Garcon could be a darkhorse in that group. A lot of those guys (Mike Wallace, etc) likely won't see free agency but wouldn't it be a kick in the nuts if they could swipe him from the Steelers?shook_17;1027600 wrote:i really like the wide recievers in the free agent group this year.
No chance in hell he'd come to Cleveland. He seems like the type that would tell his agent no to various citiesCrimson streak;1027609 wrote:Garçon would be perfect fit for this offense. He is a speedy guy who is very good in the open field. Hopefully he would come back to ne Ohio, but I doubt he even hits free agency. Another name I really like is colston. He is another great fit for this offense. Hell I would even take d jax.
Not so sure about that. Heckert drafted him so there's familiarity there. Plus money talks.ohiobucks1;1027611 wrote:No chance in hell he'd come to Cleveland. He seems like the type that would tell his agent no to various cities

Don't get me wrong, they won't get him for a bargain if they do. They will have to overpay. Likely more than other teams would overpay.ohiobucks1;1027615 wrote:I actually would love for him to join the Browns but I just can't see it happening. Hope I'm wrong.

What I find funny is that some people think that drafting a QB with that first pick is an 'all or nothing' situation. "OMG...if they take a QB they WON'T be able to get ANY playmakers (WR's/RB's)" like there's some unwritten rule that all of the WR's/RB's will be gone by the time their second 1st/2nd rounder rolls around.
Oh yeah, there's also now a new league rule that EVERYONE but the Browns are permitted to participate in free agency so the Browns won't be able to get any weapons there either.
The nice thing about this is that we'll know PRIOR to the draft whether they'll get these "big time' targets or not. Free agency is in February and the draft is in April. So if the Browns grab two free agent WR's we'll have an idea of where they may go in the draft.SportsAndLady;1027659 wrote:The Browns don't get big time free agents, so its not like thy can just say okay we'll grab Vincent Jackson.

Good point. It's nice to know FA won't be the cluster fuck FA it was this past "off season."BR1986FB;1027662 wrote:The nice thing about this is that we'll know PRIOR to the draft whether they'll get these "big time' targets or not. Yes. If they grab a couple of WR's in free agency it could tip their hand that they won't be taking Blackmon, may be taking a QB or RB, etc if they decide to load up on offense. If they DO grab these WR's, you can bet there will be some teams pissing their pants wanting to trade up and leapfrog them for a QB.SportsAndLady;1027664 wrote:True..it was different this year right? Cuz of the lockout?
Yeah...last year was "fun" in the "I'm a football fan" sense but not so much in the "I'm a BROWNS football fan" sense since they didn't do shit. I like the old format (FA first, draft second) better.like_that;1027666 wrote:Good point. It's nice to know FA won't be the cluster fuck FA it was this past "off season."

We also haven't had a legit/qualified GM like Heckert since the return. I thought Savage might be that guy but he was a flake. I think after this season of "evaluating", they know that they have to add weapons at WR. This article is very telling on their need for receiving/playmaking weapons. Plus the Rats cheerleader in the pic has a nice rack....SportsAndLady;1027678 wrote:Yeah I mean obviously if the Browns add 2 legit free agent WRs then I would be thrilled with taking a QB with their first pick...but come on this is Cleveland lol we are not that lucky...
And this is more likely what they do. If they can get a #1 type target in here I think that Greg Little's production skyrockets. Right now he's the #1 option and has all the pressure. Remember MoMass when he had Braylon to take a little of the pressure off him? Granted, Braylon couldn't catch a cold but he was that vertical "threat" that freed up looks for Mo. A legit #1 WR would do the same for Little.like_that;1027682 wrote:I would be happy with just 1 FA WR.
The comments to this article reminded me the Browns need a RT. Fatshos is just god awful.BR1986FB;1027683 wrote:We also haven't had a legit/qualified GM like Heckert since the return. You'd be surprised how many people over there defend Pashos as "not that bad."like_that;1027687 wrote:The comments to this article reminded me the Browns need a RT. Fatshos is just god awful.
