I'm not saying that he's on the same level as Luck, RGIII or Barkley, but just throwing it out there. You never know what's going to happen between now and the draft. Like I said, his stock could rise with a nice combine, but this kid can make all the throws and can throw a 30-yard precision pass on the run. He also has no problem throwing the out-routes. He has an NFL arm, and I know that he's a converted WR, but came to A&M as a QB. He's an unselfish, smart player, that will do anything he can to help his team win. Picture Colt McCoy in a QB's body, and an NFL arm.
In two seasons as a QB at A&M: 452/725 (62%) 5053 Yards 41 TD 20 INT. Again, not quite the level of Luck, Griffin, or Barkley, but definitely more serviceable than what we have now, imo. Plus, he'll likely come at a cheaper price. If we could nab him with our second, first-round pick (with a good combine, mind you) and a legit OL, or, WR prospect with our first pick, I'd be happy.
A lot of this off-season is going to comedown to free agency, imo. I know this draft is important, but like was said before, every draft is important. I think for the likes of Heckert, Holmgren to distinguish themselves from the other bozos we've had in the front office previously, they'll have to really attack the free agency wire. Which, if I'm not mistaken, they've said they're going to do.
Part of me thinks a WR prospect, like Blackmon, is almost a must, mostly because there's not much to be had in the FA pool this coming off-season, but I really really want another "stud" o-lineman to play with Mack and Thomas each and every Sunday.
