I mean, they could throw him in there. Shurmur has abandoned the running game, and has forgotten that he can use a lead FB with his running game.

Yeah I know, that's why I brought it up. If they find he is useless at FB after this year, they should throw him in at LB next year during training camp and preseason and see what he can do. I know he is a stronger FB though.

Holmgren needs to speak to the media more often. The local media tries to stir shit up and he has to make an appearance to put out the fire. Damn shame.

Was interesting that he said they'd likely bring in an offensive coordinator next year but what's the point if Shurmur will continue to call the plays?

Also sounds like they are making no commitment to McCoy beyond this season.

one reason he made an appearance today was because he talked to the Seattle media this morning and the Cleveland media was not happy......I personally do not think Holmgren will fufill his contract and leave at some point

I think Holmgren will leave in 2-3 years and Heckert will be promoted to the "President" and he will hire his own GM that will work well with his drafting techniques.

Heckert already calls the shots as it is, right? Holmgren just oversees everything

true....but what I would like to know is who Heckert would've drafted if Holmgren wouldn't of forced the McCoy draft pick......

8. The Browns needed to use this season to find out if they have a franchise passer in Colt McCoy. If they want to believe that, they better not put on the Raiders tape. McCoy was bad. He threw off his back foot in the face of pressure several times and threw to empty spaces several other times when he was pressured. He had a couple of drops, but McCoy really struggled. He just never seemed to be able to get much on his passes. He doesn't have a great arm anyway, but it seemed to be a problem against the Raiders. He needs to get it going or the Browns will be in the market for a quarterback in next April's draft.

Three-fifths of that OL are new this season and McCoy did not display those traits last year when the line was more stable. I still say you add a true No. 1 receiver to the mix of Little, Mo Mass, Moore, Watson and I believe it completely changes how defenses scheme and opens up the field more.

I'm not ready to give up on McCoy based on all the instability that has surrounded the offense so far, and the short timeframe they've all had to absorb a completely new offense.

Honestly, the impatience of some Browns fans is a bit disturbing at times. Yes, it's all sucked for 12 years but if you can't see the difference in top end talent on this team vs. those in the past, I don't know what to tell you. Give this front office more than 2 seasons to change the culture of losing that has infected the franchise and the players that came with it.

I'm not ready to give up on McCoy but I have given up on ANY chance of a vertical game even if they get a legit #1 WR. Dude just can NOT throw the long ball with any accuracy or without it "quacking."

McCoy is not going to be a top ten QB, he very well could be a 11-15ish QB, with the right pieces he could manage a team to the playoffs. Right now with less than a season of starts he is maybe 25ish. Now would you be happy with 11 to 15 type QB that could manage the game and take that LB with the 5th to 8th pick, or are you taking Jones or Barkley. Take the LB.

Hopefully they don't have to take a QB.

My dream draft, at this point, would be 1a) Burfict, 1b) Kalil & 2nd Chase Minnifield...fills 3 needs (LB/RT/CB) and lands 3 starters. Grab WR's in the 3rd and with one of the 4th's possibly and maybe snag a FA WR?

At his max potential he's a 15-20 QB.

Brady, Rodgers, Breese, Ryan, Manning, Phillips, Newton, Schaub, Roethlisberger, Flacco, Stafford, Fitzpatrick, Kolb, Vick and Freeman.

That's 15 off the top of my head.

I just can't see McCoy leading a team to the playoffs in that division. Especially with the promising play of Dalton and the Bengals.

At what point do you go after a QB? You wait another year and then potentially draft a rookie QB again? Or do they go after someone like Jason Campbell to compete for a starting job?

My assumption was that McCoy would get his shit together and start looking like a REAL NFL QB so they can fix that O-Line and continue building a young, smothering defense. If they are not confident in him at the end of THIS year, you pull the trigger on a rookie QB in 2012. A name that kind of intrigues me is the Griffin kid from Baylor.

The way things are going, and how they've been drafting, it's VERY possible that the Browns & Bengals have the top defenses in this division in a couple of years while the aging Ravens & Steelers (defenses) are in "reload mode."

I am glad Holmgren spoke the other day, but the god damn media is most of the problem with that whole situation. It must have been a boring week for them if all they have is nit picking at how he phrased things with some Seattle radio station.

Also, I don't believe McCoy is a starting qb in the nfl, and he has done nothing to change my mind. He can dink and dunk...and he is a nice guy.....personally I would rather have a piece of shit human being that can put defenses on their heels.....like another team in our division has.

The Peyton Hillis hub-bub ran it's two week course so Chuck Booms (92.3) had to stir the pot with Holmgren's "they/their" comment. They had nothing to talk about, this fell in their lap, and they just HAD to stir it up. And make NO mistake, it was Booms leading the charge because nobody listens to WKNR anymore now that 92.3 hit town. Mary Kay Crap-ot jumped all over the story, after the fact, with the "Browns will let Hillis hit free agency" story. Cleveland media is THE worst in sports.

I'm sure one of Rizzo's "sources" had something golden to give him.... Reghi got banished to radio Hell, didn't he? Him & Scrotum are no longer in the afternoon drive slot correct? The Trick Bag Punks are probably up on the ledge if there's no longer a Bump & Run.
