Apparently they were disappointed in his play (felt it had slipped) which is ironic since he made the Pro Bowl.

Also, not sure if this had anything to do with it...(story from March)

Just received a text that The bears made a 1 year deal with Merriweather. I knew i shouldn't have gotten my hopes high to sign him.

Well, that sucks. But I didn't expect him to end up a Brown. We can't sign anyone....

Pretty sure I seen on John Clayton's twitter the other day that the Browns have the lowest payroll in the NFL

Looks like the confidence wasn't all there with Pinkston starting at LG. I'm assuming that's where Hicks will be slotted...

Former #Redskins OL Artis Hicks is heading to Cleveland to sign w/ #Browns now. He says on #Redskins QB winner,"I'd say Beck"

Good news on Hicks but it is absolutely stupid that no more LB help has been found. When this comes back to bite the Browns, it will be a self-inflicted wound...and totally unnecessary.

Yeah, not real sure why they couldn't make a 1 year offer to Merriweather. It still allows you to go forward with your future plans in building through the draft and not locking up players long term.. Even though Merriweather is fairly young himself.

James Dockery, CB Oregon State
Armond Smith, RB Union College

Those are the only two I see on their active roster.

Browns will beat the Colts in week 2. Not looking past the Bengals but the Browns WILL beat a Manning-less Colts team.

lol come on BR. You and I both know that is not guaranteed, just as a defeat over the bengals is not guaranteed.

I agree that without #18 the Browns will be able to come away with a W...but let's go ahead and get the first W first. I think Hillis and the O will have a huge day on Sunday!

I'm just saying, whether they beat the Bengals, or not, I think Indy will be a win. Heck, even if that's Manning's first game back I think they have a better than 50% shot at beating the Colts.

Good lord, Tony Pashos in a walking boot at this morning's practice.

Alright, I will take that. Your last post you just had too much confidence lol. I still think they have a better shot to beat the Bengals than they do vs a peytonless colts. They better beat the bengals, I feel like they will. It seems like this team/organization has something to prove, and I think they will come out fired up on 9/11 in front of a packed stadium.

A "Peytonless Colts" is a "4-12, 5-11 we may be drafting Andrew Luck" Colts.

From Manning to Luck....If I'm a Colt fan, this would make me very happy.

Same, that would be the luckiest thing to ever happen to a franchise. I don't think 4-5 wins gets Luck though.

Actually wouldn't have an issue with the Browns kicking the tires on Ross Homan for depth at LB.

Did the Vikings cut him? I'd pick up him as a project, why not?
