If TP can get into OSU, anyone can get into anywhere.

OSU likes to say they have big standards to get in, but I have seen some seriously low ACT scores and GPAs get accepted to OSU in recent years

I am repsonding to Web Fire's post on the other thread.

Ohio State has turned down many a recruit because of academics. See Cardale Jones, Carlos Hyde, Kyle Dodson (he has to get his ACT score yet), LaTwan Anderson there are others that they didn't offer or if they really wanted them had them go to prep school first. Ohio State and Michigan football wise have the same standards. ND Stanford and probably BYU are the only big time programs that have higher standards then the big 10.

Here was my post:

Michigan turned down a high start recruit last year based on academics alone. Not saying they don't squeeze some in, but they don't just let anyone in.

And that same recruit flunked out of Louisville. I assume you're talking about Demar Dorsey?

My post was not just about football players. My cousin (non-athlete) got into OSU with some seriously questionable academic numbers. And this wasnt 20 years ago, Im talking 2 years ago.

What were they, I know plenty of people with good numbers that got denied. Also what was his/her ethnicity?

American, White, Christian, Male with a 17 ACT and a solid 2.1 GPA

No one in our family has any clue how he got in.

That is odd, I know for a fact a couple of white females with 26 ACT 3.0 GPA that got rejected and had to go to a branch then transfer to main campus thier soph year.

If it wasn't a total invasion of his privacy, I could give you his dorm room address and you could see for yourself. You could get a good laugh at his poster of one of the Twilight girls he has on the wall (just like everyone else does...I mean laughs, not posters)...kid loves his Twilight I guess.

Of course you don't...you think OSU is the greatest thing in the world.

I have another relative who was an athlete at OSU (pretty good one too) who graduated without declaring a major. His diploma says "General studies". This was back in the 80's.

Judging by your posting history, its apparent you have a dislike for anything OSU related. Further, OSU has definitely tightened their admission standards within the past 5 years.

And fwiw (i.e. whether you believe me or not), I have an old high school friend who has been in the OSU admissions department for over 5 years. I sent him a text of your post verbatim. He just replied, "Lol, not true. Michigan fan?"

You can still get a general studies degree at OSU as far as I know. Oh and you can do it at Michigan too. http://www.lsa.umich.edu/bgs lol Fail.

I wasn't suggesting that general studies was just an OSU thing...more of something that I just cant believe exists.

As for not believing that OSU let my cousin in with poor grades...deny all you want, he is there, enrolled, and taking classes.

Only with those two cousins (and my sister...who also got into OSU, but before they upgraded their standards)...another was a full ride basketball player at OSU and she had some seriously good academics.

Never had an issue myself, was even recruited by Harvard for a while, just couldn't figure out how to pay for the 2 years they weren't offering. I had a 3.7 and a 29 ACT myself. I always thought school was easy

Correct. Hell I had a 28 ACT and no one was knocking at my door.
