"I get overwhelmed sometimes when I think about the talent in this class," Tuitt said. "I'm like all the fans -- I think we are going to turn a lot of heads and we are going to make people turn our way and jump on the bandwagon."
Where does this class rank? Or where will it rank?

Yeah I think Scout and ESPN both had it a few spots higher maybe FWIW. Its not so much the overall class that's impressive, but more the haul on the defensive line that stands out.

Mark Harrell committed to the Irish this evening. He's an OT from North Carolina.
He had offers from Auburn, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Stanford, Tennessee, West Virginia, Michigan, etc.

How much did the Irish pay for Charlie not to Coach? Notre Dame paid more than $6.6 million and counting to sever the contract of former football coach Charlie Weis in 2009, the Chicago Tribune reported Friday.
They fucked up by giving him that extension after a few games so they screwed themselves there. Fortunately they were able to afford firing him.

Notre Dame could burn cash all day and be fine, no big deal.

Jack Swarbrick:
On Notre Dame launching a network much like Texas:
Yeah, we will – you know, we are very focused on building our digital media capacity. It'll probably take a slightly different form because we work with a different set of assets than Texas. I think that Texas' model is a great one; I think they'll be hugely successful. But it is based on the remarkable passion for that school in a geographic area, so it fits over a cable footprint. I don't have any market like that. I have interest everywhere, but not a concentration of it in one place. And so our opportunities will really come as broadband delivery increases and as you all are consuming media on a more content-by-content basis rather than a network basis. So as those two things evolve, that's really going to play to Notre Dame's favor, and what we want to do is position ourselves to take full advantage of it. So as broadband delivery on an a la carte basis, if you will, becomes the future of media, Notre Dame's going to be really well-positioned.
Looks like Michael Floyd will either play week 1 and not miss any games or won't play at all.
Clicked on the link and read it.....I like the way that Kelly is handling this so far.

Irish picked up their 8th commitment tonight, C.J. Prosise a safety out of Virginia. 3 star on Rivals, didn't have an overly impressive offer list but did have offers from Penn State and Va Tech. Was only offered by ND May 16th.
"No schools compare to them academically or athleticially," Prosise said.

He must have meant compared to the schools he was offered by.

Deontay Greenberry is commitment #9.
4* WR out of CA and Tee Shepard's cousin.
Offers from Alabama and pretty much all of the PAC 10.

Tee Shepard - * * * * * CB (California) - 6'1 175 - Alabama, Auburn, Miami, Oregon, USC
Ronald Darby - * * * * * ATH (Maryland) - 5'11 175 4.31 - Alabama, Auburn, Florida, FSU, Miami, Penn State, USC
Taylor Decker - * * * * OT (Ohio) - 6'8 290 - Michigan, West Virginia, Wisconsin
Nick Baratti - * * * * S (Texas) - 6'2 215 4.48 - Texas Tech, West Virginia
Deontay Greenberry - * * * * WR (California) - 6'3 180 ____ - Alabama, Miami, USC
C.J. Prosise - * * * S (Virginia) - 6'2 190 ____ - Penn State, Virginia Tech
Mark Harrell - * * * OL (North Carolina) - 6'5 270 - Auburn, Stanford, Tennessee
Justin Ferguson - * * * WR (Florida) - 6'3 200 4.5 - Alabama, Florida, Florida State
Scot Daly - n/a LS (Illinois) - 6'4 230 - n/a
I didn't realize how good this class is until I listed it for myself. There is a ton of talent here, even the three-star guys are very good. Mark Harrell's high school doesn't pass block, and he's a TE, so he's a project with tremendous upside. Ferguson is a three-star guy who was offered by Alabama and the Florida powers, that speaks for itself.
The national recruiting has been very good too. Notre Dame needs to hear from some RB's and OL for this class to fulfill some needs though.
Also, the average star ranking is a 3.875 (sans Daly). Very nice indeed.

I'm not sure what your point is. Naturally, all of those guys are in the top percentile of people who have ever played football. Typically it's hard to get uber excited about three-star prospects, but Ferguson could get a fourth star and Harrell has incredible potential that needs mentioning.

It's all good.
This is shaping up to be a hell of a class. I personally hope ND gets back to consistent winning. I've never had the hatred for them that many here have. And the UM/ND rivalry has become one of the better ones IMO, but they both need to be winning to make it great.

Tom Dienhart's answer:
I don't agree with Kelly's penalty on Floyd. I think Floyd should have to sit out some games, regardless if he behaves between now and the start of the season. Floyd isn't coming off his first alcohol-related offense. This was his third. ND's response to this point: He has had his captaincy stripped. That's it. And that's a joke. Floyd has gotten off too easy time and again. He deserves a harsh treatment. I think he should sit three or four games, at least. And if he has another run-in with the law, he should be gone for good. Bottom line: If Floyd was the backup long snapper - and not the best player on the team - he would have been booted long ago. But we all know there's a double-standard in the sports world: Stars always have and always will get special treatment.
