2010 good year or bad….You make the call

The closing of 2010 is coming to an end. Reviewing your accomplishments and failures was the year 2010 memorable year?

For me the year 2010 was not what I had worked for but I’m grateful for the accomplishment that I did have and the opportunities I had to fail. Those failures provide good insight and knowledge to do better and to create other opportunities which I’m taking advantage of this next coming year. All and all the year 2010 will be remember as a year of hard work and little payout but a challenge I enjoyed.

For my family the year 2010 will be looked on as a difficult time with some unfortunate encounters and dilemmas however with the Blessing of the Lord and a strong conviction of Faith and Trust in the Lord all conflicts have taken a lesser meaning now.

I’m still in good health and will be around for next year on the OC …

Got a great job but wish i could transfer from my department. Hate the area im in but dealing with it the best i can. hoping in the next year i can get that transfer and wont have to worry about it anymore. I am sick of worrying about money and hoping this next year i wont have to anymore.

Great year at work and personal life. Just got my year review at the office, I am very very happy. Personal life was great this year. Took some nice vacations, got some nice things, and saved more money!

The real only down point was losing my dog in Sept and that was killer!

There have been both highs and lows without a doubt. We bought a beautiful big new house in June, moved to the city where my husband works (he was driving 2 hours a day round trip) and the kids are happy in their new school. << All of which are such blessings and gifts from God to our lives. We have some really low points as well though. We lost our precious baby 1 day after our 12th wedding anniversary. One day you see sweet little hands and feet on an ultra sound and the next day you find out your baby has passed. That added to some serious health problems have been the lows. I've been looking for a job since moving (the market for nurses is not great here) and finally just this past week have some great prospects and an interview tomorrow. Definite high there.

As in everything and in every year you will have your highs and lows. I am grateful to God for the strength to deal with both of them.

professionally, work really died down when the macondo well blew out. since then it's been SLOW. call it a wash if i get a good bonus and raise, if i don't (and i don't think i will, the company didn't achieve any of their goals). it will be a bad year. looks like i'm getting transferred again (this time to Houston) so that might perk things up for me in 2011.

personally, all is well. Baby is doing great, wife is happy, good friends, good dog, very happy there.

Professionally: same stuff, different year. I have fun with what I do and make enough to get by.

Personally: reasonably good. Had a good time, partied a lot. I guess another "same stuff, different year" thing. No major cause for celebration (like 2008's "bitch finally signed dissolution papers" event), but nothing particularly bad happened.

I'd say it was pretty good. Wildcats and I met in 2009 but made it FB official (lol) on January 2nd so if I'm counting that I'd say my personal life has been great. I got a new job in March and although I'm not making a lot of money it is still more than I was making and I also have weekends and holidays off. It's just my boss and me and we do clash sometimes but all in all I enjoy what I do. I am hoping to move forward in my career or go back to school this coming year. I might move, wildcats might move...who knows. But we'll still rage out and have an amazing time with our friends and family so I am looking forward to that.

2010 has been an up and down ride. Cancer has returned for my beloved wife of 19 1/2 years. As I type, I am at her side at The James/OSU Med for a chemo treatment. However, through this all, we've been blessed many, many times over.

For me personally, the best year of my life:

I got married to Websurfinbird in October, followed by our 2-week honeymoon to Italy (Venice, Florence, Rome) and Israel (Tel Aviv, Jerusalem). Also had an epic Vegas bachelor party, an engagement party, a fun ski trip to Vermont and rented a beach house at Fire Island with friends, plus I just got promoted at work. Definitely a little sad to see this year end!

Professionally: I'm still working in an industry that is struggling and where many people aren't (including over half of our company). I didn't get my annual pay raise, but many similar companies are taking pay cuts. Our health insurance premiums went way up, but again...I'm working. I can't complain, but it's not a year I want to repeat too often.

Personally: I've developed stronger bonds with my family this year and grown up a lot (believe it or not). It only took 27 years. My wife and I are closer than we've been in several years and my children idolize me. I cannot ask for more.

I'd rate 2010 as a pretty good year. Much better than 2009 personally, and overall better.

2010 has been overall a struggle. Had to work through a few tough semesters and a tough season where a firing and a man's job was on the line, someone I went to bat for who I really respect. Also had some family members deal with some health issues. Personal life has been, well, lets just say shitty, not really any prospects on the horizon

2010 was a decent year, nothing terrible, nothing exceptional. I have a steady, decent paying job (1st full year), my personal life has taken a hit being in a new city and not knowing many people, thinking that maybe a transfer back to OH could make things better. That said, nothing bad has happened so I'd have to say it has been a good year.

Not good. Being self employed and owning 2 businesses in this economy was tough. I took a $12,000.00 hit this year.

Pretty shitty year. A disagreement with someone who was a very good friend has led to us not talking since January. It's great since we're co-workers and have to see each other every day. Got a new boss at work, a real Napoleon-complex bastard, so work is pure misery now. Otherwise, things were just kinda blah....

Good year, mostly - but incredibly busy. We've been through more changes this year than a mood ring worn by a manic-depressive.

Pretty rough start to 2010: We lost a very close family friend and the family dog of 13 years. My gf's family was dealing with some major issues as well. I cant complain after that. My immediate family is in good health. I graduated from OSU and was accepted to grad school. My girlfriend and I are going strong and looking to get engaged sometime next year. I was also able to take a month long vacation to California.

Up and down year. Water leak from the person upstairs in Janurary. Ripped out the ceiling and carpet. Broke my collar bone and had to have it Surgically repaired in Feb. Got a promotion and raise in March. Got to see my Daughter get married in April. Quit smoking cigs in May.

All was awesome until August, then sewage backed up into my Condo...more carpet ripped up. They eliminated The Wife's position where she worked in October, so she's on severence until the end of March. I was lucky and kept my job at the same company. The another sewer back up 2 weeks ago. Can't rip up anymore carpet as we are down to the concrete floor.

Yep had a couple of 'shitty' times, but who doesn't.

Personally: Married the love of my life in August. Found out that I have some really great friends who will stand by me and support me no matter what. My friend and his wife had a baby in January and gave me the honor of being the Godfather. And then in March, my sister-in-law gave birth to my second nephew. Overall, 2010 was great for me on a personal level.

Day Job: While my goal was to stay under the radar at this job, I have drawn attention from my manager and other some of the higher ups at the company. While it's for good reasons, I had hoped to be a low-profile employee at this job. In any case, I'm thankful to have a great full-time job that pays well. As frustrated as I get because it is not my passion...it pays the bills and management likes me. Solid year in this aspect as well.

Comedy: 2010 provided me with the biggest opportunity I've ever had in comedy. Even though I blew my Last Comic Standing audition earlier this year, the experience was one that I'll never forget. I did not give enough attention to my comedy this year, as I've been distracted with new members of the family, and my wedding. But I've had some great opportunities, have made some great friends, and have done a good bit of networking. I've resolved to really put forth a lot of effort in 2011 to move my comedy career forward. While it's going to be very difficult, I feel that I'm ready to put in the work necessary to try to make this dream a reality.
