You've got to be fucking kidding me?? No playoff win in eight years, only two chances to do so. NO other coach has had this type of unaccountability.

To play devils advocate, could this be a good thing for the Bengals. By all reports, there are conditions that need to be met for Marvin to come back, this could go a long way in changing the culture of how things are ran in Cincy?? Let's be honest, Lewis had alot of players that he didn't want forced upon him by Brown.

According to Mort, Lewis left the facilities very unhappy today.

Lewis wants more control and a bubble for practice field.

If Lewis gets rid of Brat I don't know many Bengals fans who don't want him back. It's not like Brown will be able to get a big name to come here and have no control, and he's not going to pay someone enough even if he did give them control.

This is exactly why I think it's a great thing if Marvin comes back. Marvin won't just come back and have everything stay the same, he wants some things to be changed, so if he comes back that means Mike Brown is willing to make some of the changes necessary for the Bengals to be run like a good football team, but if Marvin doesn't come back it's just a sign that nothing will change as long as Mike Brown is in charge.

This is impossible to follow on twitter. 10 minutes ago, the AFC north page links to story saying they hit a snag. Three minutes ago the Bengals page says Lewis signed the deal.

Doesn't bother me 1 bit as long as freaking Bratkowski is gone... This is kind of like the Browns situation about not really caring if Mangini stayed as long as Daboll left. Hopefully Mike Brown gives up some control and lets Marvin run the damn team.

Never seen Mikey talk that much. Sounds like Marvin has a lot more control than us fans think. They both make it sound like not much is changing, other than the coaching staff. That will be done this week. No change to scouting, practice bubble isn't a high priority. Mike said the way they played this December shows that isn't an issue. Mike also said Marvin usually gets his way when they disagree on something. Neither would say how many years the contract is for.

I don't know why anyone would be surprised to see Marvin Lewis be resigned by Mike Brown. Brown is never going to pay a lot for a Head Coach. Mediocricy and the bottom line is all Mike Brown cares about.

I'm more surprised Marvin Lewis WANTED to come back...but I also wonder how many other organizations were beating down the door for his services. Guess the lesson is you don't bite the hand that feeds.

He could hire Zimmer or many other options out there for less money.

I think most people who aren't bengals fans would say it is time for Marvin to move on.
Most who have been a fan of the team for more than 10 years would say, probably a good move to keep Marvin.

I am in the second boat. I remember how bad we were when Coslet, Shula, LeBeau were at the helm. I think Marvin Lewis can win as a coach, but needs to demonstrate some consistency. I was unaware that Mike Brown made choices for all coordinators and that Lewis was not in agreement with some hires. Hopefully the meeting yesterday and reported concession by Brown will yield some changes to how things operate.

It isn't time to blow this team up, they are still quite talented.
Carson Palmer is your quarterback
the offensive line is consistent
the defensive line showed promise over the final weeks
the linebacking corps are solid and young
the secondary has been a strong point, and can still be with signing of JonJoe
the kicking game has been awful since Nugent left, but he will likely be back.

If Carson is going to be the quarterback, they NEED to draft Bowers from Clemson.

I wouldn't pick up Chad's option either. Look at how Simpson and Caldwell played after they finally got a chance, which brings up another point, hire a fucking scouting department!

Fire Bratkowski (which should have been done forever ago.)

Mike Brown cannot fire one of the few people on this Earth that will tolerate him in the front office. That is how Lewis has kept the job for as long as he has.

Committing to Carson Palmer is just another reason the day after he was resigned that he just doesn't see reality in Cincinnati.

Is there a single person on the face of the earth that wants him back that's a bengals fan other than mike brown?
