I still pay cash for the little things. However, in the past 2 years I've used my credit cards more frequently because my purchases have been more costlier. Which do you chose to use?

I had one credit card in my life. If I can't buy it with the money I have, I do not need it.

I only carry cash if I know I am going somewhere that doesn't take CC. The only problem I have is that I may buy less if I actually saw the cash leaving me wallet instead of just a card. I'd like to add that I have never carried a balance on the card, pay it off every month. Just easier then carrying cash around.

Strictly use plastic. Same with iclfan, unless I'm going somewhere that doesn't take a card. Plus, mine is a debit card, not a credit card. I never use my credit card.

I'll carry the same $20 around for a month. Way easier to use the card and just pay for everything monthly.

I use a credit card and debit card. I rarely have cash. I do pay off the credit card every month, I carry no credit card debt.

check card mainly but I get out about $150 in cash at the beginning of the month and put whatever I don't spend into a emergency cash fund in my safe

I have credit cards and almost never use them. I always use cash at the stores because like somebody else mentioned - it's easier not to spend so much if you have to be the one to physically hand it over.

The only time I use the cards is making online purchases, but even some of those are done by paypal.

Cash for everything! I have no credit cards or loans. I use a visa checkcard mostly for my purchases.

Exactly what I do. I pay it off every month and I get points from Navy Federal for using my credit card. I've accumulated enough points right now for over $200 in gift certificates. And that's only in the past year in spending. I rarely have cash and it's almost a PITA sometimes not to have cash. Hell everything out in cali mostly takes credit cards. Pop machines, vending, etc.

Yeah, I mainly use my credit card for the cash back rewards. I've got over $400 saved up right now. I had over $500 but cashed some in for some giftcards last month.

Usually carry the same little bit of cash in my wallet for a month or so at a time. I have a credit card but haven't used it in a couple years. I use my check card for pretty much everything I buy.

Plastic. Speaking of credit and debit cards, when are the U.S. card companies going to get their heads out of their asses and implement the chip and pin technology that Europe is using? Can't believe we are so far behind in this stuff still using the magnetic strips.

debit card, which is the same as cash. I just hate walking around with a pocket full of change all day or just having it laying around somewhere.

I use a debit card or a credit card for most of my purchases. If the purchase is for me and the wife I use the debit card. If its for me, like my cigars, I use my credit card.

Which I do pay of monthly, if not after every purchase.

The RIF cards? Chase uses them, there are some major security concerns with them though.

Discover. 1% cash back on all purchases, 5% cash back on select purchases that change quarterly. Can add to that if you accept gift cards. Best deal possible. A record of how you spend your money, fraud control and no need to use cash + the cash back (which isn't taxed since it is considered a rebate and not income).

My Dad was an original Sears/Discover holder - he's easily cleared 5 figures in rewards, heck by now he's probably closer to 6 figures. He somehow managed to put his mortgage/car payments on the card.

Cash is still king in my book. Rarely use the one CC I have and I never carry a balance on it.

Both - wife and I have a cash budget for day-to-day stuff, like lunches, quick trips to the grocery store, etc.

Credit card for anything else - but we actually pay off the balance on-line once a week just for reasons of self-discipline. You only have to miss a payment once to get into deep doo-doo.

To those of who don't believe in credit cards - try traveling on a regular basis without one. Even using a debit card is difficult - a two-or three city road trip will result in hotels and car rental places reserving several hundred dollars of your checking account. I stayed at a hotel in Seattle last week which the serious Led Zepplin fans amongst you would recognize - their stated policy is that they reserve $500 on your card plus $100 per night to cover "potential contingencies".
