Southern Cal is giving Kansas a tough time. USC up 2 with 2 minutes left. This game is Josh Selby's debut for the Jayhawks.

Fontan hits one of two free throws for USC. Still up 2 with 1:20 left.

Tough floater by Fontan. Kansas gets the rebound, calls timeout with 38.7 left. Still down 2.

USC has battled back, I expect Kansas to get another phantom call to bail them out at home and keep the streak going.

Marquis Morris has taken awful shots all second half. Thankfully Josh Selby is clutch.
Worst thing USC could do was take a timeout there. Now they will hold for last shot, and will probably take a bad one and Kansas wins.
They would have been better off running the floor and trying to get a shot in transition and play defense.

WOW. Fontan steps out of bounds when he receives the inbounds pass. Kansas ball.

I got way too excited for Xavier to have the longest home court winning streak in the country. I blame myself for USC losing.

Agreed. I have no idea why you'd inbound the ball into the corner with very little time left. You're leaving the player with nowhere to go.

Halfcourt heave no good. Kansas wins 70-68.

I mean really though, using your pivot foot and stepping out of bounds with 5 seconds left? Failure of epic proportions.

College basketball is about recruiting and coaching. Kevin ONeill's job is always half done.

Kansas is highly ranked, but they don't do very much well defensively in the half court. Selby will likely emerge as their go to guy offensively, they need the Morris twins to do less handling of the ball 26 feet from the basket. They could learn something from watching Ohio State. You dont see Lauderdale or Sullinger trying to dribble around traps. Guards need to be better at getting them post touches

Marcus Morris is overrated in my opinion. Selby already looks like a stud though.

I sure hope Duke doesn't run into Kansas and its two 26-foot long forwards. That'd make dunking a pretty ordinary occurrence. I'm not sure we have the size to combat that:)

No way was Kansas losing this game today in Allen, not with that streak on the line. As soon as USC took a 3-point lead with less than a minute, it might as well have counted as a Jayhawk buzzer beater. But that's the way it works for the giants at home.

Josh Selby is going to be a beast..wow he is good.

And Marcus Morris isn't overrated, he just didn't have a very good game. I stand by my comment that he is one of the best players in college basketball.

That wasn't the first Kansas game I've ever seen. And it wasn't a bad game, it was slightly below average for him. It isn't like he usually comes out and drops 20 and 10. He's solid, but he isn't an All-American talent in my eyes (and he probably will end up on the AA team, which makes him overrated).

I doubt he's ever going to take over and single-handedly win a game for Kansas.

He's averaging 16 points and 6 rebounds on a very deep team, only playing 25 minutes a game. So he's 4 points and 4 rebounds a game away from your 20 and 10 necessity, and he's playing 6-10 minutes less per game than other all-americans (Singler, 32 mpg; fredette 33 mpg; 34 mpg). I'd say he'd average about 20 and 10 if he was playing those type of minutes.

And he hasn't really needed to single-handedly win a game for Kansas, considering how deep they are and how few close games this team has played. This isn't a team with a ton of stars on it, no one needs to really overtake a game...then again, it's Selby's first game this season and he proved he can be that guy, when needed, so who knows.

I don’t know about all that, but presently I am enjoying a holiday (Easter) classic. (You can only consume a certain dose of Macaulay Culkin.) Some here might remember it, a beautiful piece of cinematic art (by Ken Burns, I think), from April 5, 2008.

Think Schindler’s List. A timeless pantomime of valor rising from the shadows of despicability. Although, I'm certain to others, a very real horror. Think Silence of the Lambs. Like a quality fermented drink, or Shawn Johnson, it's noticeably more pleasurable with age. I built a regulation-sized balance beam out of Lincoln Logs and play-doh the first time I saw Shawn do a toe-on full pirouette Geinger salto, but nothing compares to Cole Aldrich beating the absolute shit out of Psycho T in the Final Four (still sad over our loss of No. 1 last week; please, ignore my candor, UNC gang). That, my Kansas friends, was a purely otherworldly encounter.

It’s 1:39 a.m. and clearly I cannot sleep and am bored to tears.
