OSU should be 15-0 going into the Minnesota game.

I just noticed the Buckeyes basketball team plays in Iowa City the same night the Buckeyes play Arkansas in the Sugar Bowl.

I agree but it's not going to happen. They need to make one full length of the court at least 10-15 rows up for students and sold at a rate that will ensure every ticket is used every single game. I saw a shirt today that said The Nut House. I like that name.

One of a handfull of Universities whose Athletic Department doesn't lose money, they break even. One of a handful of Athletic Departments that don't receive money from the University's general fund. One of the few Athletic Departments that fund the most sports that lose money, without money coming from outside of the Athletic Deartment. Money from football and basketball also fund intermutral sports.

Minny is a home game, they could be 19-0 when they play AT Illinois.

They had a contest to name the student section many years ago, I think I was still in school at the time. I submitted the Nut House and so did 5 or so other people. They randomly selected a winner by drawing names but I don't think the winner really won anything other than a mention to the crowd during a time out. If they could get the student section up to the level of Duke's the name would be even more fitting.

I understand that OSU's athletic department is self funded they dont need money from the university. But I highly doubt youd lose enough money to really make it hurt by making the student section like every other top teams student section

For those waxing nostalgic about St. John Arena, I can tell you there were plenty of games during the Eldon Miller days when it was neither loud nor intimidating.

And while I agree that St. John is a much better place for atmosphere at the college level, Value City is one of the reasons we're getting great recruits under Matta. The players love it as a facility and, honestly, when it's full during the heat of a Big Ten title chase, it can be every bit as loud and intimidating as St. John was.

It just doesn't happen as often, and certainly not with most out of conference games.

As for today's game...what more can you say about Sullinger? Only 10 games into his career, and he's setting marks like crazy. He's such a joy to watch, I'm going to relish every second and hope like heck the NBA has a long and protracted labor dispute.

Great TEAM effort tonight. Glad to see the TEAM get the win. Sully was a man amongst boys, on a night where you could say a couple others struggled. Craft with yet another solid game. He doesn't necessarily fill up the stat sheet, but he does a lot of different things well. Thomas crashed the boards pretty hard, but damn he needs to work on shot selection. And Diebs with 3 rebounds? I think that might be a career high lol.

Oh I almost forgot. GO TEAM!

I was having a conversation with a friend about this. He said Lighty can be another Bruce Bowen type in the NBA. A lock down defender and get it done just enough on offense.

I personally think that if he doesn't make it as a NBA player, he should give it a shot at the NFL. Kind of like Antonio Gates who never played college basketball but is now a All-Pro Tight End. Lighty has size, speed, and athletic ability to be a pretty good receiver. I heard he was a good football player in high school until he decided to just focus on basketball.

I was actually thinking of this during the game. How many of the current OSU players do you think will end up in the NBA? I'm guessing Buford and Sully for sure. Does Diebs get a chance just because of his shooting, ala JJ Redick? Lighty was already mentioned above. What about Lauderdale? Not very tall, but has a huge wingspan. Does someone take a chance on him for his shot blocking and rebounding?

If I had to take a guess players for sure who will get a chance at the league.

The next closet would be Lighty as he is 50/50 to me right now. I'm not sure if Diebler or Lauderdale is NBA material.

Great game by the Bucks! Most impressive thing to me was Sully's 19 boards against one of the top rebounding teams in the country.

I could just imagine the South Carolina coach yelling at his big men to block Sullinger out and the players thinking to themselves "you gotta be kidding, like blocking out a truck". You can tell Sully takes it personal. The area under the bucket is HIS territory. Several times I saw players just bouncing off of him trying to get a rebound. I'm sure Satch has been on his ass since he's been 3 years old about his rebounding. Hell, the announcer on the game today said his Dad taught him the drop step move when he was just TWO years old!!

Sorry pal don't mean to pick on you, but I've read too many posts like yours on here that I feel I need to clear a few things up for you guys. I feel this almost deserves it's own thread because of how many times I've seen similar posts this season.

First point: You suggested that they move the students to court-side and have a full length side of the court. Well, since many of you don't seem to know, THIS HAS BEEN ARRANGED for this season. "Now why haven't I seen this yet?" some people may ask. This leads me to my second point.

Second point: THE STUDENTS ARE ON BREAK from Dec. 9th until Jan. 3rd. Most went home at least a week ago so that's why you don't see them at these blowout games. The majority of schools are on semester which is why you see students at other games in force. They just started break this weekend.

Third point: The students have the option of buying these non conference games for like $10 but there is no set section and most go home anyways. The students have tickets to all of the Big Ten home games plus the home opener. This came in a package equaling to about $12 a game per student.

The home opener against NC A&T was not on TV(only ESPN3), which is probably why most of you haven't seen the new student section. I was there and the atmosphere from the section was better than I expected for it being such a shitty match-up and it stayed pretty good until sometime into the second half when we were up by like 50.

Hopefully this clears a few things up and I won't have to read anymore posts complaining about something that has been fixed.

I really do wish OSU played some of their key games at St. Johns.

Value City is definitely a great recruiting tool though. NBA style arena with great facilities.

Nomad I don't view it as picking you did clear some thing up. I do realize that the students are on break but they haven't been on break since 1998 when the arena opened and I rarely see great crowd in this arena. I must admit I did not see the non televised game and did not realize they are switching to this new student section. The pictures you posted are exactly what I've been saying for years they need. I especially like that they block a few rows off so that the fuddy duddies won't be crying for people to sit down. I have never complained so much about the students themselves but about the University for not giving them a good section and the chance to let the presence be known.

I've been to a few games that have been rocking the Schott since I've been a freshman in 2007-08.

My freshman year Indiana game on national TV (when Gordon was there) was absolutely nuts, as was the Purdue game last year.

Ohio State upsetting #1 Illinois in 2005 was the loudest I ever heard the Schott. The atmosphere that day was unreal.
