Oakland has had the makings of a good team the last few years. They've been in a ton of games and not won them, looks like they did this time.

Oakland's no easy win. They played both Illinois and MSU very tough before breaking through against Tennessee.

Agreed with everyone here, they are a battle-tested squad. What I think is even more impressive is how they came from behind in this one. I saw them in person earlier this season at the Convo when they knocked off the Bobcats.

Oakland's a hell of a team. I doubt they lose a game in conference.

Just by looking at the scores, they look to be pretty talented offensively.

Oakland is the real deal..saw them take down my bobcats, and they could have def beat msu. I think they'll beat osu, too.

Seems Oakland CAN be a good team, as evidence by their win tonight, and their close loss to Michigan State. But then they also lose to Wright State and need overtime to beat Austin Peay. I think they'll play OSU tough but the Buckeyes will pull away at the end and win by about 12-15. Looks like their center, Keith Benson is pretty good, averaging 18 and 11. He had 26 and 10 tonight against Tennessee. Maybe he'll be a good test for Sullinger.

I don't think they beat Ohio St but I wouldn't be shocked to see it under 10.

BTW...

Louisville just got upset at home by Drexel. These losses will hurt, but they aren't the end of the world like it would be in football.

Benson is a stud. Mid-major player of the year last season.

Oakland is the favorites this year, but the Summit League will be competitive. I don't think they'll go unbeaten in conference. Oral Roberts and North Dakota State will be right there, and former Hoosier Dane Fife has IPFW playing very well (7-2 with the 2 losses coming in OT to Xavier and by 6 points to Cinci)... they could be a darkhorse.

it sure shows that the one point loss to MSU wasn't a fluke, and it'll be good for OSU to face some stiffer competition before opening up the BT season...OSU by 12

Indeed. It'll be nice knowing they have one game that might be unexpectedly tough during what is admittedly a very soft non-conference schedule.

My favorite part was Bruce Pearl (which you could see watching on television) pledging to his players in the timeout that "we're fine, we've got this," after Phil Jones scored the go-ahead basket for Charlotte with 7.4 seconds to play. And then Tennessee using the almost four seconds with which it had to work after Pearl's affirmation and play design to hike up a rainbow from near half-court.

It would have been more effective for Cameron Tatum to catch the inbounds pass, immediately cock it back like Elvis Grbac and launch into the mezzanine. At least he would have hit something.

Tennessee lost to Charlotte last night.

Oakland got smoked by Michigan today.

These results just show that this sport is crazy on a nightly basis. Oakland may very well be one of the best mid-major teams in the NCAA and they have 6 losses....

Meanwhile, Tennessee beat a good Missouri State team, beat a better Virginia Commonwealth team and has smoked the 2 preseason favorites in the Big East (Villanova and Pittsburgh). Then, they lose to Oakland and Charlotte...

Crazy sport folks, crazy.

Maybe more interestingly, what is going on @ southern cal??

They are 7-5, get smoked by Rider (??), a close one to Bradley (both at home), lose to Nebraska and TCU.

But they beat Texas and now Tennessee, and pretty much should have beaten my Jayhawks last weekend.

Bi-polar team of 2010?
