I don't think they are dead set on outdoors as much as they are Minnesota.

Yeah, to lose the last two home games of the year is a bit tough for the fans, teams, players, etc.
The 'dome' at the Metrodome is akin to the 'bubble domes' used for golf, indoor sports, etc. It uses air pressure to keep the roof up. With holes, you can't keep the roof inflated, therefore it sags. And it's not just the fabric, there's a grid-like system in the roof that's solid, meant to help keep the roof in position when it's inflated.

Just heard the bitching on Sportscenter. Really? They're playing in a football stadium, on a football field, right? What am I missing - why is it all of a sudden a problem to play a game outside in the cold?

it seems like a lot of the complaining has to do with the field
TCF Stadium doesn't have the heating system under the field, apparently, and it will make the surface very hard
this will be like the Ice Bowl, which will be great if you're watching in the living room bad if you're in the stands or playing in the game
no alcohol, zero degrees (even less with the wind chill), a team out of the playoff race with maybe a third string QB, you'd have to be a real diehard

I know this is a midwestern based board and a lot of you believe football is meant to be played in sub zero weather with a foot of snow on the ground. I can tell you how I and a lot of others who have played in the weather feel----- it sucks! There is nothing fun about freezing your balls off, your cleat crunching on the field in ice and the football stinging your fingers when you make a catch. To the fans in attendance, there is nothing fun about wearing a full snowsuit accompanied with a ski mask.
In all honesty football is much better from September-November for all involved, unless you are somewhere like San Diego, Phoenix or Miami where it is nice year round.

I've gone to a lot of pro football games and I'd say if the weather is in the 20s and 30s that's not real cold. If you dress accordingly once you get in the crowd it will be a comfortable feel where you can cheer and be rowdy and those things.
below 15 it starts to get rotten where you're just froze and too cold to even cheer

These players are being well compensated no matter if they are playing in a warm dome or outside in the snow. Suck it up and play.

And now I know why Minnesota played the "Favre's questionable and might be cleared to play!" card. Favre didn't create the drama, espn did. Favre said all along he would play tonight if he could.
If he plays tonight and gets the win that would be a fitting way to end his career. Beating Chicago and having GB fans love him for it.

I have disliked how Farve handled most everything these past 3 years. However, he is a MF'n gamer willing to play with some injuries!! I wish I could say the same for Adrian Peterson. He was listed as probable, the guys said he had a skip in his step as he entered the stadium tonight. He is a talented RB, yet I sometimes question his desire.

I don't think football is "meant" to be played in those conditions. And I quite often mock the northern mentality when it comes to the whole unfair-bowls-are-all-in-nice-weather debate.
All I'm saying is that the NFL doesn't cancel games for cold. Or bad fields. If this game hadn't been moved in the first place, no one would've thought that the game maybe shouldn't be played.

It just shows how much Brett loves to play football. He just can't give up playing in the games. And the bad field conditions might give his offensive line a better chance to give him better protection.

Because AP didn't play tonight I locked up wins in 2 leagues in the playoffs when I would have easily lost in one and it would have been close in the other. I probably looked like a fool fistpumping while running on the treadmill at Urban Active when I found out but oh well, I can live with that.
