What a crazy run for Mount and UWW. Six straight years that these teams will play for a national championship.

Has Mount Union ever considered moving up a division? They've completely dominated D3, maybe they should move up and dominate D2 haha

We would always talk about this. D2 is a whole new game with scholarship and team size limits. Plus I don't think you can be D3 in all other sports and just D2 for football like some teams can be in the FCS but D1 for all others (Like Villanova). If that's the case, outside the track team, other sports at Mount are just average (sadly the baseball team too lol) and they'd take a while to rebuild.

The closest D2 conference would probably be the GLIAC and Mount would have to compete with the Mount of D2... Grand Valley State.

Maybe when the schedules come out for the next season they should just put Wisconsin Whitewater or Mt. Union at the very bottom in the title game slot

Matt Piloto the back up from Mount had a great game. Never heard of the guy so I looked him up and apparently he transferred in from USF after one semester on their football team. 6'6" 230 lb QB's are starting to grow on trees in Alliance with last years starter Kurt Rocco about the same size.

Here was a Plain Dealer article from Thursday. Nice to see Cecil Shorts is getting some looks from NFL scouts. He has shattered all of Pierre Garcon's receiving records and has a NFL body.

Is the championship game going to be televised? If so, when and where?

I saw Mt. Union play Otterbien earlier this year. They won, but I really wasn't impressed. Thought I would see more on offense.

It is usually on ESPN, I would assume its next weekend. The championship game is known as the Alonzo Stagg Bowl.

That's because FBC and FCS aren't different divisions, they're different subdivisions (hence Football Bowl Subdivision and Football Championship Subdivision). They are still both Division 1. The only difference is that one gives out 85 scholarships per team and the other only 65. Division 1 football is the only sport with subdivisions (technically D-1 has three subdivisions because there are schools that give full scholarships but don't have football teams). So you are correct that you have to be in the same division for all sports.

Yeah I figured as I typed that but used that example to get what I meant. Be Nice, I saw the stats were down on offense this year but they still averaged 39.8 points per game. Some Mount fans on the d3board.com were a little too happy to see Neal Seaman get injured today and have Piloto play. Didn't read the whole thread but I suppose they are blaming him for the "down" year.

Forgot about wrestling. My senior year was 2007-08 and they had just got a new wrestling coach. After watching their offseason workouts I believe they are now a top team. They deserve it for how hard they worked.

Sometimes you have to win with defense like they did today. I'm sure it just demoralized Bethel when they couldn't move the ball with their running attack. What amazes me about MU is the way they can plug in another player for an injured one and not miss a beat. I know that Kehres is in a unique situation and would be crazy to leave MU, but why hasn't he moved on to a higher division? I'm sure he has had many offers.
