The finalists were just announced. I hope that LaMichael James (RB - Oregon), Andrew Luck (QB - Stanford), and Kellen Moore (QB - Boise State) enjoy their free trip to New York, and congratulations to Cam Newton (QB - Auburn) on winning.

Okay, so it hasn't been announced yet, but we all know how this one will end.

According to Stiff Arm Trophy Denard Robinson finished just outside of being invited to New York.

The invites are determined by the votes, and if you look at Stiff Arm Trophy's projections Denard is WAY behind the other four. Maybe he should have gotten more votes, but based on the votes he shouldn't have been invited to New York.

500+ ballots yet to be tallied but their projections have generally been pretty on point.

Heard on the radio today that 6 sportswriters have come out and said they didn't even put Newton on the ballot. I know that's a VERY small percentage of the ballots, obviously some voters are taking his transgressions into account. It will be ashame when he wins it.

I know what you mean but nobody did more for than their team than Denard. If no Denard Michigan is a 3 win football team is all I'm saying.

BTW, Cam wins by the largest margin ever. Then he has to give it back in 2 years when the NCAA nails him. They are too chickin shit to do it now.
post of the day...spot on, cc ;)

If we are talking about on-field play, Newton wins it hands down. If we factor other "circumstances" in, I think LaMichael James makes it closer than it should be

Where is TP? :) I went back and looked through some of the old threads. As late as a 2-3 weeks ago, some of my Buckeye brethren were convinced he was going to get an invite. smh.

Naturally we'll have him slotted as the favorite next season after a nice bowl performance.

Disagree. Auburn is a 7 or 8 win team without Newton. Michigan is irrelevant in the national picture either way. Cam, regardless of if he should be eligible, is the clear winner.

This.

If Michigan had won 10 games Denard would be a major contender.. but Newton SURELY deserves it.. 100%

Newton got this thing locked up. Why did they bother to invite the other dudes?

As others have said, the invites are based on the voting. Apparently the voting was close enough to warrant four invites. (That doesn't bode well for Newton, this should be a 1 man race)

I wonder if we'll see any vigilante justice? (NCAA didn't find him guilty and let him off the hook, so reporters figure they must be the ones to step in)

Sure they lost one game to another BCS school. Also, Tressel system isnt going to allow him to run up stats like Newton. He actually has good running backs that take away the passing unlike Moore.
No, its just because he's not a superstar. He has been one of the most overhyped QB's ever. When you are suppose to be as good as he's bragged up, but have your fans turn on you every year, and you have to come back for a 4th season because you aint NFL ready....it means he's not as good as what OSU fans say he will be each and every year. I would take him at LSU though, but not after today's recruiting pick up.

Newton should be the only one invited, since no one doubts he will get it. But as someone else said, it will get stripped in a couple years.

Gotta click the stiff arm link jordo so you appear to know what you're talking about. He's running away with it base on less than 20% of the votes even in. It's all projection at this point.

Newton clinched the Heisman with the performance against South Carolina

The real question will be who finishes 2nd.

I'll pick Andrew Luck FTW.

All the questions areound Newton's past, his dad's shopping him around, etc will hurt him. Without all that, Newton would win in a landslide, IMO.

Said before and said again...this is a Travesty and the award which once meant something (Eddie George was probably the last true Heisman winner) is now just another TV award show much like the Peoples Choice Awards or MTV Video Awards.

Cam Newton is a paid professional athlete playing in a league that not only condones but encourages its teams to flagrantly defy NCAA guidelines. The SEC represents all that is currently wrong with college athletics and the general decline of morality in this country as a whole.

Can you post Pryor's and Newton's numbers for this year? You can name them player A and player B and we will try to guess who is who and who should win the Heisman. Also, only give the passing numbers.

My post was correct, and you cant deny he hasnt lived up to OSU fans expectations or heisman expectations. He could be in the NBA now if he made the right decision.

HA your post reeks of ignorance. CC wasn't AT ALL insinuating that Pryor should be the Heisman winner let alone be invited to the ceremony, all he was saying is that Cats is wrong that TP is overhyped, and I completely agree with CC.

Pryor:
5956 passing yards, 55 touchdowns, 144 passing efficiency
2049 rushing yards, 17 rushing touchdowns
2 receiving touchdowns

He's not exactly Colt McCoy or Sam Bradford, but his mechanics aren't anywhere near them and he won't play QB at the next level, but NONE of that detracts from how good he's been as a leader of this football team and a winner at 30-4.

Most over hyped ever?! "ROGL!"

Um he's pretty much lived up to the hype in my eyes. I'll take 30-4 over 3 years and another full season to go. You REEK of hate.
