No link, just 30 years in the software business, with a pretty good idea what a web site like that one would have been worth at the time of the sale.

Do you know how many people were registering per day and how much it used to cost?

I'm thinking it was around $6.00 at the time he wold it. Would he have gotten 300 new registrations a month? If he did, that's over $20,000 a year, and then you have the ad revenue which I'm assuming is at least 3X that, so say he was bringing in $50,000 in revenue per year.

I have no idea if those numbers are accurate or not, but if so, he is selling it for at least 5X that I would imagine.
