"...Navy operates out of a spread formation with a fullback positioned directly behind the quarterback and two slotbacks lined up just outside the tackles and one step off the line of scrimmage. ...Navy's triple-option offense was created by Paul Johnson when he was offensive coordinator at Georgia Southern. The idea of positioning the slots near the line of scrimmage so they could better be used in the passing game was taken from run-and-shoot guru Mouse Davis.

Johnson steadily evolved the offense while serving as offensive coordinator at Hawaii and head coach at Georgia Southern. He called a high percentage of run-based read option plays as head coach at Navy, but has done less of that since becoming head coach at Georgia Tech. ..."

Nothing. It's the same thing they complained about last week and the week before that, when they actually could have elicited some real sympathy. At this year's spring game I was able to be on the field. Simmons was still wearing the green jersey due to his offseason accident. He was "foaming" at the mouth during the game and you could tell he would have given anything to be out there competing. This kid's a football player and I'm glad he'll be a Marine. This article make me understand that he also respects those who go before him. Wearing on his uniform tomorrow the patch of his childhood friend from the 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment.

If you have ever been to a Navy vs Army game you would know that they play Spirit Spots on the Stadium monitors. Some of them are funny. Some are inspiring. They are from bases and ships all across the world while some are made at the respective Academy.

Game day for the greatest rivalry in all of sports.

If the nation wants a Division 1 football game to watch today, it will be the Navy vs Army game. I'm glad it's that way. That's how a great American Classic should be. CBS wanted this game pushed back on the calendar. It gives the Cadets and Midshipmen some extra time over the Thanksgiving holiday with their family and it puts the game as the only game on TV for D1 college football fans.

Both teams have had three weeks off. It's almost like preparing for a Bowl Game. A potential drawback of the timing of the game is an extra week of recruiting for Air Force. Falcons' coaches I'm sure have been out and about, knocking on doors. A win on national TV in the biggest game in College sports, however, is the greatest recruiting tool of all.

One of the biggest secrets over the past 3 weeks has been what uniform will the Midshipment wear? It's been a difficult question to crack and has been as guaded as a government top secret file. Even those can be found out, however.

Being the visiting team today, Navy will apparently wear white jerseys with Marine Corps shoulder boards. The pants are believed to be similar to the ones worn in the last two Army-Navy games - blue with a red stripe as a nod to the Marine Corps look. This was decided upon due to the high number of senior football players choosing the Marine route in their service selection.

As a runner and one who completed the JFK 50 mile Ultrmarathon, a race with many servicemen from each of the respective branches, I appreciate this tradition.

The game ball is run to the host Stadium by a company from the Brigade in Annapolis. This year the run is 125.5 miles long to Philadelphia. The tradition started in 1982 as a tribute to those who have served and continue to serve the nation in a time of war. The run started on Friday at 12:00 and will arrive in Philly just prior to the 2:40 start.

Oh yeah,...they run in military issued boots!!!!
