If so, recommend a case for me. Ours will be coming in the mail tomorrow and I'd like to get a case for it before we leave for Mexico next week.

Also, in general, how do you like the device?

I'm debating about getting the new kindle. I don't read as much as I used to, but it still strikes me as very convenient.

I don't read much even though I enjoy it. The new kindle is cheap enough that it's worth a shot to see if it will get me to read more often. Luckily my wife reads quite a bit so even if I still don't read much she'll get a lot of use out of it.

How much are the new ones? My daughter is getting one for Christmas...but I have no idea if it's a new one...but it's cool enough my wife is wanting one as well. I can't even read so it wouldn't do anything for me. I thought my wife said you can get on the internet on the one my daughter is getting.

The new wi-fi only models are $139, wi-fi and 3g models are $189. You can do basic internet stuff with them.

It's the same model we bought. I couldn't justify an extra $50 for something that, unless you've read through your entire library and can't leech some wi-fi from someone, is pretty much useless.

I want one. I like to read and having mobile access to wikipedia without a subscription would be sweet.

I want one as well. Newspaper subscriptions, magazines, and some books make it worth the pretty cheap price tag. May wait until Christmas to get one though.

Yeah, I have the Kindle app on my Android device, which is the only reason I haven't rushed to buy a Kindle.

I have the kindle app as well, but after staring at a monitor all day at work I'd rather not stare at a phone to read a book.

The M-Edge case works well for us.

The Kindle is incredible....we have probably two rooms filled with books that take up space that we can store with the Kindle. Don't have a problem reading the screen (I'm nearsighted anyway, so can read without contacts/glasses). We sprung for the top of the line and its pretty cool being able to download stuff in various places.

I want one. I have no problem just going to the library and checking out books but this would be much more convenient.

I think I am getting the Nook Color. I am pretty pumped about getting one, checked them out at Barnes and Noble last week. Definitely have a lot of neat features and it has an Android operating system. It is somewhere between the Kindle and iPad as far as features are concerned, and it is much cheaper than the iPad

I just ordered a Kindle for my mother-in-law's Christmas present.

They seem like a good idea. She'll enjoy it, she reads close to 3-4 books a week.

I don't like them. I would much rather keep books going. Soon enough, books may seem to be obsolete. I just don't know if staring at all these different screens, whether it be a computer, tv, portable video game devices, or these new portable electronic book contraptions, is actually good for our eyes and heads.

The nice thing about the kindle is that it looks like you're reading an actual page, there is no eye strain.

Didn't amazon have them for 89 bucks for a lightning deal the other day? I am guessing it is probably an older model?

Just check the tracking and the kindle (along with Kick Ass on bluray) is sitting on my front porch. I am looking forward to playing around with it when I get home.

Kick-Ass is an awesome movie (not to hijack the thread). Since the Academy Awards expanded to 10 Best Picture nominations, it should get a nod IMO. Some of the best subversive writing imaginable, and also quality acting and camera work. Funny how some longstanding critics (i.e. Ebert) didn't get the point.

Kind of feel the same way. My next phone will have a bigger screen than the Droid, so maybe I will give it a shot. Don't expect it to be something I'd care much for. Haven't tried audio books, but if there are some that have actors portraying the different characters, along with a narrator, that could be something worth exploring.
