What does the Bowl picture look like now? Assuming Auburn beats SC next week, does Arkansas likely get chosen by the Sugar Bowl?

This all but locks up BCS bids for Ohio State, Texas Christian and Stanford with a win tonight. It also puts Arkansas in prime contention for the 4th at-large BCS bid.

Assuming the following:

Oregon beats Oregon State
Auburn beats South Carolina
Stanford beats Oregon State

The BCS becomes very clear.

Pac 10 - Oregon
SEC - Auburn (with win over South Carolina)
Big 12 - Nebraska or Oklahoma/Oklahoma State/Texas A&M
Big 10 - Wisconsin
ACC - Florida State or Virginia Tech
Big East - Connecticut or West Virginia

At-Large - Texas Christian
At-Large - Ohio State
At-Large - Stanford (with win over OSU)
At-Large - Arkansas (finishes 9-3), Texas A&M (finishes 9-3), Boise State (finishes 11-1)

Isn't ARK 10-2?

Thanks for the rundown. Assuming Auburn and Oregon make the title game, what will the order of at large picks be? It would be, Rose-Sugar-Sugar again-Orange-Fiesta in that order right?

So it would be:

NCG: Oregon vs. Auburn

Rose: Wisconsin vs. At Large #1
Sugar: At large #2 vs. At large #3
Orange: Va Tech vs. At Large #4
Fiesta: Nebraska/Ok State/OU/A&m vs. At Large #5

So my best guess would be..

Rose: Wisconsin vs. Stanford
Sugar: Arkansas vs. OSU
Orange: Va Tech vs. Uconn/West Virginia
Fiesta: Nebraska/Ok State/OU/A&m vs. TCU

Look about right?

If TCU finishes 3rd in the BCS they are Rose Bowl bound from what I understand. Wisky would get them.

TCU will be headed to Pasadena to face Wisconsin (assuming Auburn and Oregon win out). The Rose Bowl is contractually obligated to take the non-AQ team if they are ranked top 4 in BCS and the PAC 10 rep goes to the title game as far as I know.

I would love to see Ohio State vs. LSU, but that's done now. So Arkansas-Ohio State is a nice consolation prize though.

LSU gave this game away many times over tonight. Miles is a terrible coach. If LSU had a coach and a QB, they'd be unbeaten right now. That offensive playcalling was worse than Ohio State's.

What if SC were to beat Auburn, what bowl would that put each team in?

SC would go to the Sugar Bowl and Auburn would get one of the at large bids, maybe the Orange?

Correct, except that they don't have to be ranked in the top 4. They only have to be a non-AQ auto-qualifier (if that makes sense); they'd have to be in the Top 12.

Maybe the mighty SEC only gets Auburn in the National title game.....they really only deserve one team.

If the media got off the SEC jock....you would see it my way. What team is deserving after Auburn? I personally think one of the Big 12 teams would be a better invite than Arkansas.

If Ohio State plays Arkansas, I fear their RB Davis might rush for 200 yards. He is a very good back, and our run defense leaves a lot to be desired.

Right. For starters, Arkansas and LSU are both 10-2. You also have 9-win Bama and possible 9-win South Carolina. Winning 10 there certainly earns some respect. Also, simple fact, the SEC wins BCS games at a higher rate than anyone else. Finally, the Sugar Bowl has a direct tie to the SEC and if there's a plausible replacement when they lose the SEC champ to the NCG (which there is), there's no reason NOT to take an SEC team.

Now, we all know selections are largely made based on the value of the fanbase. I don't know Arkansas is a great selection from that standpoint but for a Big XII replacement you are either talking Nebraska (not a bad choice, but they'd have 3 losses) or Ok St (not real attractive) or Oklahoma/Texas A&M with 3/4 losses. Oklahoma probably makes some money, but again, they'd have 3 losses.

Looks like things are coming into place.

I thought Arkansas's defense had a great game plan against LSU today. Really got after Jordan Jefferson and made things difficult

One of the Big 12 teams will win the automatic bid, while the other four will fight for one at-large bid.

Given the only losses by Arkansas were at Auburn and vs Alabama, and LSU's only losses were at Arkansas and at Auburn, it's tough.

Oklahoma State dropped two home games, Oklahoma lost to two 9-3 teams while Nebraska lost at home to 5-7 Texas.

Arkansas beat Texas A&M head to head, the same Texas A&M team who beat Nebraska and Oklahoma.

Gotta say advantage Arkansas at this point, especially one of the Big 12 teams will be gone from the discussion when they lose the Big 12 title game and the other will get the automatic bid. You are then comparing 10-2 SEC teams with better losses than a 10-2 Big 12 team.
