What changes would you like to see made in High School football?

We've already discussed the Public/Private issue, and the State Championship game locations, so please, let's let them have their own life.

Back to only the top 4 teams in each region, to make the playoffs.

Or move Basketball to later in Dec.

Having a different governing body in Ohio High School athletics, one where the OHSAA is no longer involved. New blood.

I agree with that, and it has nothing to do with basketball.

Also, Harbin penalties for scheduling Canadian Teams.

I don't know if you're joking or not....But I like this idea.

Also, if a kid is in jail this week, he can't play in the game.

This would certainly change the way schools make out their regular season schedules.

I'm dead serious, here goes:

1) Sign a contract to play a Canadian Team......automatic loss of 5 L1 and 5L2 Harbins.
2) Beat a Canadian Team.....lose an additional 10L1 and 10L2 Harbins.
3) Lose to a Canadian Team.....lose an additional 15L1 and 15L2 Harbins.

The BS quickly goes away.

As to the other part.....................sore loser!

I like this idea a lot. I would even be happy with two from each region but I know that the money wouldn't be given up to do so. I'd like the State Championship and playoffs to be less of a role in HS sports and the emphasis of dominating conferences and the regional rivalries that used to be a big part of seasonal schedules come back into play.

I said this before: You have to schedule "x" number of Ohio teams to qualify for the Ohio playoffs.

Also, get rid of the advantages/disadvantages of playing out of State teams.

No, I disagree.

I like that other states want to come here and play, and see what REAL High School football is all about.

I don't think that it's a bad thing to play an out of state or 2 or even 3. My problem is with the way the points are awarded. You can really beef up your points and load the schedule with out of state D1 size schools. Then get a ton of secondary points no matter who they play.

I just think the playoffs have gotten to watered down, with the influence of the almighty dollar.
When teams that are 6-4 are making the playoffs, it has gone to far.

Most certainly. And you would see more lower division schools playing UP, instead of playing down.

But would the larger teams want to schedule down, just so the smaller schools could schedule up?

Yeah, I guess I really dont mind. It does not affect me directly, and if some schools want to do that, so be it.

It also comes back to the almighty dollar. OHSAA and the school/s playing.

Or, keep more schools playing in their own division. LOL

Good point. I like the 8 teams though. I don't feel it is too many and it gives teams that play a decent schedule to get in. If you play a monster schedule and go 5-5 or 6-4 there is still a good chance the you can make it. That, to me, is how it should be.

It doesn't really affect me either. It is just something that REALLY bothers me. I don't know it gets under my skin so much, but it does. I could start on the "too many home games" argument next. lol That one doesn't bother me quite as much though.

Make a rule stating you have to play atleast 8 teams from Ohio to be eligible for the playoffs.
