A sad day for the Copley community.

I've seen Orrville play at least once a year for 20+ years now. A new scoreboard and a good 50/50 will probably merit a visit this fall.

Do the Riders travel to Arlin Field this year? I always enjoyed that stadium. Haven't seen Orrville play there since the late 80's in the playoffs against Allen East....at least I think it was Allen East.

Yes we will be playing at Arlin Field September 23rd, which is getting renovated with turf. Should make that stadium really nice....I still won't forget watching the smithies play delphos st johns there in the mud bowl. What a playing surface for a state semi-final game Haha

I went to that game as well to watch the smithies. the field was a mess and that may of helped Smithville out. But I remember also that Smithville denied Delphos inside the 5 yard line on a couple of occasions from scoring. I will have to venture down to Orrville this year and check out the scoreboard.

I understand The Riders hit it hard this week in practice. Sounds like coach D is not messing around. I heard a couple kids say it was the hardest they've ever gone. Ya gotta love hearing that.

Heard that from parents too.

Let's face it....we have VERY high expectations from this team...that's everyone...kids, coaches, community. And not one bit of it is unfair. A team with 3 and potentially 4 seniors with D-1 offers on the table SHOULD be good. No excuses.

Glad to hear there's an intense focus to hitting the ground running and tackling the season one week at a time...hopefully for 15 weeks.

Didnt go...but we looked bad more than good. Who knows if we were really struggling or if we were trying to focus on a few areas and having not so good results.

We seem to never come out of the gate too well in that first scrimmage....no matter the year.

Less than 2 weeks until the games count so not a lot of time to correct things.

Minerva was able to control us? That's surprising, I thought we were supposed to go undefeated and win state....this team is human after all? :D

First scrimmage is to evaluate certain kids. Coach Haley runs a pretty aggressive defense thru the year and we pretty much stayed in base most of the day. Bright side was o-line looked pretty decent and lichti and brenner and short looked good at qb. It would be nice to think we are sooo good we can control Minerva in any defense but we are not and they have a pretty goof ball club and gave us some very good looks today. It will do nothing but help us get better

It is good, Big Dawg! Made sense to ME! They are truly "goof"!

(I can say that because there aren't any of them on here.....that I know of!)

I know the first real scrimmage is to get guys playing time against varsity talent...plus it is the first time we go 11 on 11 with another team. In saying that I was just yanking your chain 5k...I know how that first scrimmage is...lol went through it 12 times in my 12 years of playing the game.

I hope I get proved wrong this year on my record prediction....and that is a challenge to my red riders! There are a lot of expectations for this team...let's go to work boys!
