I'm sure this thread will get a lot of love being I'm one of the few ND fans who made the tranistion, but what do you all think?

IMO, this game is going to virtually make or break Charlie's job at ND. If he wins, he's at least safe until next week - if he loses, he's pretty much a done deal.

I actually think it will be a shoot out, somewhere in the 38-35 range, and hoping ND comes out on top.

For some reason I'm confident about this one. A loss to Navy, heading on the road to play the number 8 team who hasn't lost since September I believe, and we are only an underdog by 7 points... I feel this team will finally play a complete game of it's potential and win this game rather convincingly.

I hope you guys have room for one more......;-)

A loss here and it's all but over for Charlie. I'm sorry but 4 losses was not acceptable heading into this season. A loss vs. Pitt is likely and Uconn will be feisty and Stanford might be a repeat of the ND-Syracuse game when Walter Reyes ran wild on ND in their '03 finale on the road. Gerhart is a man.

Good to see you killer..

I agree that 4 losses should seal Charlie's fate at ND. This means winning out, AND winning the bowl. It's a tall order, but one that needs to happen if he expects to be back in South Bend in 2010.

I like this little Irish committee you've created Hamp. It should lead to some very good discussion. And in regards to Charlie being fired, he told the team after the game: not to go out, if he found out anyone went out they'd be suspended indefinately, and that he will probably be fired.

Yeah I just PM'd the folks that normally post on the Irish threads, I'm sure there were many I forgot. The more we have, the better the discussions!

Also, you're welcome rock!

Seriously though.....how does ND stop (or even contain) Dion Lewis? And Bill Stull is having quite the year and I don't expect ND to be able to put much pressure on him. Weis HAS TO KNOW that ND's best chance at winning this game is in a shootout. We're not going to be able to pound away at them with Hughes. Pitt's D isn't great but they'll be able to stop Hughes IMO.

The defense did a decent job of stopping McKnight and the rest of the USC crew, and slowed down BC's back pretty decent as well. I'm hoping the Navy game was an anomaly due to an unconventional running game.

Regardless, I completely agree that this game has to be a shootout to win.

The tackling BETTER be improved too or ND is going to get stomped. And how many times will Walls and Blanton mis-time their jump or end up completely out of position in coverage? That's a weekly occurrence.

Personally, I think Notre Dame's best way to win any game is in a shootout. I am just amazed at how poor their defense is no matter who is playing or who the coordinator is.

The defense needs ten more players like Manti Te'o!

I honestly think we should be able to win this game guys. I wasn't real confident heading into USC, but I feel that we should be able to get this one. The team should come out inspired I believe.

ND COULD definitely win this game but offensive playcalling early will be key IMO.

Notre Dame could very easily win this game. Pitt is still coached by Dave Wanstead and because of that they are good for at least two terrible performances a year at minimum. They already had one in losing to NC State it Raleigh and will have another between Notre Dame, West Virginia and Cincinnati

Go Panthers. Pitt's defense will throttle ND's passing game. Pitt will be in a BCS bowl game and atone for the blowout from Urban Meyer's Utes a few years ago.

i do believe weis is done, if nd beats pitt (weis hasnt beaten a team thats finished the season with fewer than 4 losses, 1-10 vs ranked opp) nd still gonna finish with at least 4 losses i dont see nd beating stanford either. i pray that nd would win out but i just dont c it happening mop
