The hype for Harrison Barnes is beyond belief. Maybe it's the "lets hype up a freshman" syndrome that is spreading, but this kid is nowhere near as good coming in as Michael Beasley, John Wall, Greg Oden, etc...he isn't in the same class. In fact, I'd dispute he's even the best Freshman in the country (thus far, he hasn't been close).
I saw the Sports Illustrated article the other day talking about how he is the best Freshman of all-time. Ahead of guys like Beasley, Rose, Durant, Anthony. Seriously? Not only is he not going to be that, but he's not, as far as potential goes, in that league.
We will see if next year's class gets similar hype. There are folks out there who believed that prior to this class coming in, that Austin Rivers and Michael Gilchrist were the best prep players in the country. That says a lot when a senior isn't winning that award.

Kyle Singler is such an ugly douchebag that I have a really hard time admitting how good he is. He does practically everything really well. He might not have THE best post moves in the country or THE best handle in the country when it comes to guards, but the combination of his talents makes the guy pretty much unstoppable.
If I am allowed to brag up a Xavier guy (i'm not including him in the talk for best player..) Tu Holloway scored 31 last night against Seton Hall and as of last night has the 2nd most ppg in the country. maybe not this year, but next for sure I might have to give him the tile of best X player ever and replace David West. yeah, THAT good.

Call me a homer, but I'd have to go with Sullinger.

I will go with Kyle Singler. He isn't the most talented but in terms of effectiveness in the college game I think it's him, similarly to guys like JJ Redick or Tyler Hansbrough. Never the most talented, but uber-effective.
This simply isn't true. Mike Conley, OJ Mayo, Derrick Rose, Tyreke Evans and John Wall have all been drafted in the top five after one year in college. And that's all in the last five years. All five of them were arguably the best PG in the country by the end of the year in their respective year. Really, all of them may have been the best in the country the minute they showed up on campus. Kyrie Irving is a flat out stud but he is the next in line; nothing more.reclegend22;569984 wrote: It's rare to find a freshman point endowed with so much speed, agility and poise when handling the ball, in addition to playing absolute lock-down defense and possessing dead-eye range from deep.

I will throw Desmar Jackson's name out there from Wyoming as a sleeper after earning Frosh All-American honors last year

Singler is not the best player in college basketball.
He might be the best college basketball player.
Last year, ET was not the best player in college basketball. John Wall was. But, RT was the best college basketball player.
There is a big difference.

What is with the name change for Ter... excuse me, 2 Holloway? Has he always been Tu and just now wanted to change it? Just seems odd.

I love seeing Dez doing well out there. It's a shame Sheldon got hurt their senior year; I think they would've knocked off Northland.

Anybody watch Kemba Walker defeat Wichita State? He scored (29) 2nd half points , after sitting on the bench most of the 1st half with foul trouble.

Kemba is a stud. If he keeps up this level of play all year, he might be a run away POY.
