Agreed. It's not country either. I hate what country radio is becoming. Mostly pop.

It's a song, made by some artists. Who cares what people classify it as?

Because when I listen to COUNTRY radio I want to hear COUNTRY music. You don't turn on ESPN hoping to see The Office do you?

I have 5 country music stations on my favorites buttons. If I don't like a song, I just change it. I see what you're saying though. It can be a rather annoying song, but I put up with it for the sake of my daughter.

I think your post brings up an interesting point. Country radio stations are really going towards the younger female audience. But hell, even on XM you get the Outlaw Country station playing Bob Dylan and The Beatles. Um, excuse me?

I agree... it can be annoying. However, I still vote for YMCA as the WOAT. For you younger chatters, this song did not just show up at ball games during breaks. This sumbitch was on the radio every ten minutes when it was a hit song... turrible!!

I remember going through this pop invasion into country in the eighties... I saw Boxcar Willie at a County Fair and he addressed the issue that night about preserving "country music" He said, " I love Lionel Ritchie as much as anyone, but if he is country... what am I? " Seemed like it wasn't very long until the tide went back to more traditional country sounds. It comes and goes.

I blame a great deal of this on rap music and a void in the pop charts for many acts these days... so many artisits crossover if at all possible.

Sugarland, though never really country, have really gone down hill lately. Their performance on the CMA's was terrible and their new cd is turrible also. Country is getting a little too poppy recently, but still better than any other station I could be listening to.

Country music stopped being country music in the late 1990s. By the time Gretchen Wilson hit the seen, there was nothing country left about country.
