As coyotes pointed out, every public school in the state has the option to go open enrollment. As an open enrollment school, they can attract players from anywhere. Why penalize a school like Mooney or Ursuline because students around the area WANT to be a part of a winning tradition and decide to go to Mooney? Why penalize the schools because parents would rather send their kids there so the kids have a better chance at getting college scholarships?Want to make it apples to apples? Go open enrollment. Work hard. Get the right coaches in place to build up a program which will attract students. And quit bitching.

Red=Again, open enrollment does not equal open recruiting. They have to come to us....We can't go to them.
Green=Why penalize public schools because said kid wants to be a part of a "WINNING TRADITION"....aND mOONEY &/OR Ursuline have scholarships to offer?
Purple=If they have the money to pay tuition at Mooney, they most likely have the money to pay a college tuition....Oh, thats right, they recieve a scholarship to Mooney AND to a College.

There have been 100 teams playing for a championship in the state finals, 40 have been private. Of those, Mooney and Ursuline account for 10 so that means 30 other privates have also particicpated. Private schools have won 21 of those 50 championships, not counting division 1 so what argument are you going to use now?

This doesn't sound too bad, until you figure the ratio of privates to publics.

People assume all they want .. We have never been in violation..We have had to forfiet a game about 10 years ago that we won by 40 because a kid that transferred from Indian Creek got to play in the last minutes of a game already won...red tape ..His paperwork didnt go throught the prper channels in a timely manner. I am open for discussion on thoughts .... I sincerly feel bad for a team like Kirtland that which town is so proud of a that team from such a small town and they basically are playing a D-1 juggernaut .. It is disparaging ...and yes Ursulin could very well win D-1 this year ..Just as Mooney could have won several times in D-1 this past decade....just saying

Someone should have told Bechtel that Mooney was too good and needed to be in a separate playoff...

I have no idea. I didn't get to listen. From what I heard Mooney just didn't get it done.

No they shouldn't. You said that the winner of the Dover/Marlington game would go to state to play Watterson. Remember? It was the comment you made that you wouldn't bet me about.

Yeah, check the thread on that game, nobody, including yourself thought HHW had a chance. I believe you even predicted St. X by 10.

I know what I predicted. I thought X would win and thought Mooney would win. But that's why they play the game and don't just ask me what the outcome should be.

I am not assuming or accussing Big Red of doing anything wrong in my post or do I care what school a kid decides to attend because I feel that a kid should have a chance to go to any school where they can get the best education and help them get into a good college without having to be in debt their entire life because they attended college.Any parent would want that for their kids and if playing sports at a certian school helps them get into college then they should take advantage of the situation.

I am not assuming or accusing Big Red of doing anything wrong as I could care less what school a kid decides to attend because I think that every kid should have the chance to attend any school he wants if they think it will give them a chance at a better education and help them get into college without being in debt for the rest of their life because they choose to go to college. If a child plays sports and by attending a certain school will give them more media coverage and help pay for college than I bet every parent out there would want what ever makes it easier for their child to get into college.

You should be allowed to go to any school you want ...I want the state to lt the publics do whatever they want ..That is all . The same way some catholic schools do that is ......

Kettering Alter in D-$ has already taken care of the toughet comp in that division so the catholic schools are favored in every sing division......... I hope the publics win the 4 that they have a chnce at I really do ..But I see the catholic schools winning 4 of these titles ...now they are what 10% of all schools and they win 65% of football titles maybe more ....just saying food for thought....I am pulling for Buhctel or Marlington and Uniontown Lake and the Shadyside even though they have no chance....

Don't kid yourself. A Big Red football parent told me the Big Red football team this year is 33% open enrollment. Home grown???? Give me a break.

Maybe the dominance by St. Ed, and Ursuline will be enough to open the OHSAA's eyes....There, I did it....straight face and all, I almost didn't make it, I got to the word 'enough' and almost lost it.

See I am not aguing that point ..I dont know the number .But that validates my points better than yours ... Alot of kids come to our district because it is the most prosperous.. Some do end up playing football .... It is totally different . ...I know I am right about this .
