Do you see the problem now?
Is Mooney a redneck?

By the way you are making quite an assumption on who is telling redneck jokes. Maybe when it comes to famous comedians who tell them, but out in the real world I doubt thats the case. People I associate with tell an awful lot of redneck jokes and the vast majority are not rednecks.

If you read my post you will see that to me numbers do not matter.

I did and I was agreeing with you. The "open season" comment was in reference to krambman's post.

The problem was that stupid jokes are being told.

You missed the ball on this one.

Perhaps Foxworthy's name should be removed from the title, since these are obviously not his jokes.

The only one that even made me chuckle a little was #10. The rest were just stupid.

Yes.

That and that people tell too many stupid jokes.

If these jokes were clevor or funny in any way they'd be a lot less offensive. As of now they're just stupid misconceptions/lies about Muslims said in a joking tone. Simply distasteful like most jokes about specific religions/races.

You can have funny jokes about Muslims/Blacks/Whites/Christians/Liberals/Conservatives without be a bigot.

That's about the last thing that YHWH or Christ would want us to do. These are extremely offensive and are the sort of thing that promote ignorance and bigotry towards 1.5 billion people (or 21% of the world wide population) because of the action of a few extremist radicals that the vast majority of Muslims denounce.
If you thought that I was suggesting that it was right to do so, you're just wrong.

My point was, that some of the same people who think this is terrible, racist, bigoted, whatever - are some of the same people who continuously bash, trash, mock, whatever - Christianity/Judaism.

It's shenanigans of the worst sort because they don't even realize that their doing it.

I threw this post out as a bomb to see the reaction. I could care less whether Jeff Foxworthy actually came up with these or whether the jokes would make a crowd a comedy club roar with laughter. I wanted to engage dialogue on several points, many which have been raised by some other posters. I knew certain posters on here would be offended and call the posts racist/bigoted. The genesis of my post was a response to the thread (and outside discusisons I have seen in regards to the topic) about the Airport Security Checks and whether Muslim women are excluded from search. In the past, when the US was at war our opposition was truly the enemy--- Nazi German, Japan, USSR, Korea, etc. In today's world with all the sensitivity, I question whether the US will ever have an enemy ever again. Many in our country are so quick to blame the US for everything and to justify every action by a wrong-doer on past acts committed by this country. Many are so quick to take the side of the opposition just to try and show how they are so accepting of all cultures. I raised a point in a thread a couple years ago, that in today's US society, alien invasion movies like Indepence Day could never happen. Not because there may or may not be other life forms out there, but because the second the aliens tried to invade us, there would be a group of individuals out there claiming we either had it coming (I don't know maybe the US polluted outerspace) or that we were not being accepting of their culture and right to destroy us. Unlike the movie, everyone would not rally together to defeat a common enemy.

Our enemies know that the US has no stomach for what it takes to defeat them. They know if they play with our minds and prolong issues, we will turn on one another and give in to their demands.

As far as telling jokes go, I too agree there is a double standard. Sure Foxworthy is a white southerner telling his jokes, but you mean to tell me you have never seen a black comedian making fun of white people? Don't we see people on internet boards ripping on Christians, calling them stupid, etc?

Maybe with-in the last three years,,,,

I dont know, President Bush had a Go-Get-Em, attitude, that brought this Country together. This current administration, wants to be friends with everyone in the world. Imagine if Obama was President when 9/11 had happened. There would have been a Mosque built the next week!!

And I thought electing Obama put an end to racism? No? :D

Comedians make fun of everyone. That's okay.

It becomes a little tiresome when you only make fun of one certain group and the "jokes" aren't so much jokes as they are broad stereotypes and misconceptions said in a joking tone. This is probably why comedians oftentimes make fun of the demographic that is their audience. So that it doesn't turn into something uncomfortable (IE: A bunch of white people going to listen to a dude tell jokes about black people or vice versa).
