Somebody emailed this to me... doubt this is actually Foxworthy's list but I got some chuckles nonetheless.


1. You refine heroin for a living, but you have a moral objection to liquor.You may be a Muslim

While it seems like something Foxworthy would say, meaning it's not funny to anyone that doesn't live in a trailer park, I sill doubt it's him.

This has nothing to do with these being about Muslims. It's just that they aren't funny.

I was just as pissed as everyone else about the Mohammed cartoon controversies. They are dumb, people should chill the fuck out about cartoons.

But these particular jokes are just not funny and definitely weren't written by Foxworthy.

There is a fine line between humor and not funny, stupid racism. This is so far past that line that the line itself is but a dot on the distant horizon.

1. Agreed, none of the lines got me to chuckle. But, have you seen any of the stupid comments about Christianity/Jews out there? Some of them have even been said here. Hence, my comment. We can't have it both ways. Maybe I'll change my thoughts about it when I see some of you get all worked up about'em, eh? :)

2. How is it racist? I thought Islam was a mixed community of ethnicity?

2. technically it's not racist, but most in this country tend to equate Muslim with Arab.

1. Just because people make stupid comments about Christianity or Judaism doesn't make it right for us to make stupid comments about Islam. That's about the last thing that YHWH or Christ would want us to do. These are extremely offensive and are the sort of thing that promote ignorance and bigotry towards 1.5 billion people (or 21% of the world wide population) because of the action of a few extremist radicals that the vast majority of Muslims denounce.

Whats ACTUALLY funny is that people think its actually OK to share their racism and/or bigotry. Or that people think shit like this ISN'T racist (or whatever you'd like to call it, since we're nitpicking).

It's different when Jeff Foxworthy makes fun of rednecks because he is himself a professed redneck. It's like the difference between a black person and a white person using the N-word. It's completely different making fun of your own culture or religion versus another culture or religion that you're not part of. Let's also not draw comparisons between making fun of the second largest religion in the world and making fun of a small cultural pocket in America. They aren't even close.

NOTE: I'm not saying that Foxworthy is making fun of Muslims because I don't believe he wrote this. I'm just making the comparison between what he does making fun of his own culture versus what this author did making fun of Muslims.

It's the intention and spirit behind being bigoted that's the commonality. The number receiving the slur has no bearing on the mean spiritedness that resides in the offender.

I was referring to Mooney not Foxworthy. I 2nd Con_Alma its the spirit behind it. If numbers mattered its open season on a lot of people that happen to be part or smaller groups than muslims.
